Yeah but you look at the old muscle cars from the US that they're resurrecting... they all look like the old ones but brought up to date. Mustang, Challenger, Charger, Camaro. This just looks like another stupid Focus. Ford has no nice looking cars in their European lineup apart from maybe the Mundano.

I see what you mean, would be nice for Ford to do the same with the Capri.

You can't really have a go at Ford for making cars that look a bit boring, a Ford Focus is like a washing machine, you don't buy it with any passion, it's just an appliance, a thing to do a job. It does that job very well but it's still just a tool for a job.

The new one should take some of the old design features into account and just modernise them.

Why im at it, the focus is also a great car, i dont own one btw, but have driven many of them, the best driving 'normal' car i have ever driven, the handling was outstanding for a budget type car.

It kinda does. Look at the shape of the back window and the roof spoiler, reminds me a little of the MK1 Capri in that area. OK its not as rounded, but the rough idea is there.

That article is from 2008. Looks like they did that drawing, then VW released the Scirocco and they thought, actually thats better we'll just copy that.

Aaah they are touting this as a replacement are they .... much like they touted the Ford Probe as being the successor to the Capri , and that fell flat face down . The V6 version was quite a nice car but they did them in stupid colours like Turquoise which didn`t help sales .

Then they released the Puma and the Cougar and said it was an all new chassis but was actually based on old Fiesta stuff ... which lead onto the Focus which was supposed to be "all new" as well . Ford just re-hash and refine older models all the time and in this day and age they should just stick to what they know best and not stick their neck out like this ........... because they are literally a Probe/Puma/Cougar model away from going Tits up .

Looks like an RX8 from the front 3/4 view and a Brera from the rear 3/4.

I reckon Ford have missed a trick here. Something that resembled the old Capri wouldn't have been far wrong in my opinion.

Ok, the COugar wasnt a bad car, and is very rare on the roads. Still nothing like the old RS3.1 capri of old...a car for hairy chested men, especially in the rain...so mush so it should have come with wipers on the side windows.

Anyone else thinking that Ford may have taken on the Porsche methodology of designing "new" cars?All mian stream have. BMW just enlage thier cars for each series. Audi now do the same. Ford have lost the plot, however the Mondy is a very nice car, as is the insignia from the Vauxhall.
