View Full Version : YAY... My New Bike :D
I had been trying to sell my 600rr for a while with next to no interest. I missed out on a couple of nice bikes in the meantime while waiting for it to sell so was getting fed up.
In the end I saw another bike down in Ducati Aylesbury that was close to what I was after and the dealer offered a deal which amazing (£4k for my 600rr) so I jumped at it.
So meet my new 1100S Hypermotard :D... 5 weeks old, the original owner did 600 odd miles on it and got sick of the 12.5ltr tank, and his wife hated it, so p/x'ed it for a Multistrada after it's first service.
Its got a fair few extra bits of carbon and more importantly the Termignoni Full race system, ducati performance airbox and ECU which at £1800 I could never have justified buying myself so needed to find a bike with one already fitted. I want a few more bits like an open clutch cover, Ducati Performance steering damper and race seat.

Nah an 1100S registered mid September. Ducati Aylesbury have another unregistered 1100S in stock too.
I missed out on an amazing Evo SP in Ducati Glasgow but this one just about makes up for it.

Very nice, very nice indeed.
How much it set you back?

Nice!! I wish I had one of those!!! :)
You need an open clutch, steering damper, performance seat, 22 ltr tank, carbon tank cover, get rid of those rubber bits on the pegs, lose the pillion pegs, carbon subframe covers...just sayin :)
There's lots of shiny bits i need to buy that's for sure.
I have lots of shiny cbr bits i need to get rid of first.
My dad wasn't keen at first as it was sat next to a nice nearly new HRC blade that was cheaper, he thought I was mental, they are a bit marmite though.
I forgot to say a massive thanks to JOHN/Icanopit off the forum for lending me his trailer with very very short notice, I would have struggled without it. I didn't think I would be picking it up for a couple of weeks as I was waiting for my V5 to be returned from the DVLA, Saturday morning it dropped on the door mat and it was Go Go Go.
Thanks again Icanopit, I'll get it back to you next weekend.
Lucky, lucky barsteward :D
Quite a change from the 600rr, what made you go for it?
Oh, and... giza go? ;)
, what made you go for it?
)
Mainly it's inability to go much over 100 comfortably lol (I did actually fill my pants with poo on the NWR6 this year as did a few others, thanks again Orose)... But still insane fun in the twisties.

Nice G, them bars are redicously wide, i couldnt believe Mr spiers' the other week, looks like you have a pole strapped across your bars when youre following one.
Never seen one before in black, looks nice and i cant believe no one has mentioned clean those pipes ;)
Must admit, aint keen on the termignoni sticker on the can, but i suppose they want everyone to know it is one.
You two should have never sat on them at Silverstone! Saw you coming! lol ;)

They are built for the track, perhaps not big ass Silverstone, but any other.
Just got bummed for an extra £340 on my insurance, but I guess you always get ravaged changing half way through :( at least it's now insured lol.
I have 6 month left of my policy so it wasn't worth cancelling. Meaning £640 for the year which at 26 is not the end of the world for a £9k bike including telling them about the modifications. I though I was going to have to cancel and find a new provider.

Ah Phil, it'll be a disappointment after mine ;) haha
Although you should've really had a blast on it from fish hill though. Get a better bash on it.
Honestly though, these bikes are awesome...anyone who meets up with me a some point is more than welcome to have a go.
The only niggle is the tank range, I get 90 miles to dry so the bigger tank is definately on the horizon. Apart from that it's the perfect bike for me.
Pic of mine if anyone is interested how the red 1100S looks:

Fook me backwards they really are a nice looking bike.
Do they have a heavy clutch, a serious gripe of mine with italian exotica. I would really like one of these.
Mr Speirs
25-10-10, 05:30 PM
Clutch is heavy compared to most other non ducatis...however after a few hundred miles you develop the muscles to compensate.
If you really can't handle it though you can actually remove 2 springs which lightens the clutch considerably and still works fine.
If you are concerned with running with 2 less springs you can also get an aftermarket clutch slave cylinder which lightens the clutch considerably too. It's a bolt on part too so real easy to fit. Just fit and bleed the system.
danf1234
25-10-10, 05:40 PM
Yeah that's why I asked.
I had an RSV and the clutch made me cry in traffic. I got a clutch slave from Germany, and had to bleed it every 200 miles to make it useable. I had a go on my mates 998 and just said fook that as at was worse than the RSV before I modded it.
Something about Italian bikes. They look like sex, but god the Clutches are heavy.

The test ride I had on one was a good two hours and I didn't think the clutch was overly heavy. Certainly didn't notice it as I didn't write about it in my write up.

Come'on!!
La la la la.....not listening, not listening.
you ain't helping me NOT want one.
There is quite a few standard ones about, but finding a decent one with a few extras is hard work and depressing, they get snapped up too.
Ducati Aylesbury said every modified one they have had has gone with a week, I bought mine within an hour of it going on the website. He has a red standard 1100S in that he can't shift at all as no one wants standard ones. I imagine non S models are near impossible to move on.
You defo want the 1100S though over the normal 1100, you get lots of carbon fibre, awesome brakes (the ones on the 1100/796 suck), better suspension and Marchesini wheels.
:) I knew it wouldn't...it's why I posted it :)
Come'on!!
We are going to be noisey mofo's when we head out, the termi full system is ridiculous, Kerry **** herself when I started it in the garage, tons louder than the cbr.
Glad to be back on a twin.
Mr Speirs
25-10-10, 07:54 PM
I wouldn't say the 1100/796's brakes suck but they aren't the monsters that the monoblocs are. Bear in mind our ones are the same that the 1098/1198 superbikes have!!
Yeah will be quite a sight...one will go by ,a bit rare, followed by another very rare.
Yes it's nice:D Mate Karl has one, I don't think he has difficulty over 100:rolleyes::rolleyes:
TBH not my cup of tea but it is still a beautiful bike:D
these ducatis basically
VLnWf1sQkjY&ob=av3e
Irony... 5 emails about my CBR this week so far. I always point out it's still for sale though, just not with me and for over £1k more. Over a month of no interest then masses :s
Finished spending on the bike for now...

And me ripping apart my 60 plate bike after less than 400 miles on it... Very odd feeling, but strangely entertaining.

To fit this, my final expenditure for a while on the bike, it's just as I want it now, a fun machine with 22ltr tank for a 200mile tank range.

Coupled with these it's going to be a good summer. Europe, Scotland, maybe the isle of man for a long weekend when there's nothing going on over there and then as many rideouts as possible.

Actually, you should wack the luggage on and take a pic, be good to see what it looks like fitted.

How much the tank cost you then?
Does make it more usable as it won't need filled every hour on a run

The tank cost me £574 because I bought two and picked them up to save on delivery. They would normally be £650 per tank or £850 fitted.
The standard tank range is 80 to 90 miles and the new tank can return over 200 miles... So a fair old improvement.
andrewsmith
16-01-11, 07:55 PM
Fair enough.
I thought the KTM 640's had a token tanks (110 and they die), bet you can still use 22 l 110 miles ;)
One for sale then?
Got any pics with it all loaded up? How many litres storage is it?
I'm not sure on te litreage of the luggage. The ducati site says the tank is 14ltr capacity, and the side bags 16ltr, I think that is 16ltr each maybe though as they are bigger than the tank bag... So 46 ltr in total? Or 30ltr in total if the side bags are 16ltr combined?
I can easily fit a Vango banshee 200 tent into one side of the side bags though with plenty of space left.
Not go anyy pictures of it all fitted yet.

Quick Q for G/ Mr Spiers
how you finding the dry clutches?
That is the only thing that puts me off them (and the sound of the clutch)
Find the dry clutch exactly the same as any other clutch, there no difference. With the standard cover and plate like on the first page you can barely hear it either.
andrewsmith

cool.
Tempted to buy a Duc just to annoy my mate. He absolutely hates duc because of the clutches

As G said, dry clutch is noisy if you open it up...I like the noise so I have. If you don't like it the standard cover does a very good job of muffling it until you can barely hear it over the exhaust if you have the termi.
Dry clutches as a mechanical item are fine. Much the same as the wet clutch but in my experience is slightly more difficult to take off with...but it just takes a wee bit of practice.

Err no I meant take off as in when you are at a stand still and when the lights go green you 'take off' as it were.
Na to get the clutch out is a very very simple...6 bolts n its out.
Mej anytime we happen to be on a ride together no problem mate.
