I am looking at holidays and have no preference where I am to go as long as it is hot, I can relax and there is a beach nearby .... night life but not an 18 - 30 styleee (Woozle is old).
Any good resorts anyone can recommend?
Oh and nothing over 12 hour flight really :) and not involving bikes :) this is to be an out and out relaxer

£9.99 sun holiday in S****horpe and save the rest for a bike or lid lol
edit haha i love the swear filter i forget it would do that.
I'd never been to Tenerife before, went in April and as long as you stay away from the really touristy bits it was ok.
flights were a couple hundred quid, 4 hours to fly there and you could find places to drink most of the day for €1 a pint!
Algarve.
Only 2.5hrs flight time.

Hong kong.
Amazing place, not saying that just because I'm Chinese lol.
Sharm el sheikh in t'egypt (beware of the water :pukel:)
Marmaris in t'turkey (loved the resort, just didnt like getting there. 5hour flight gets delayed by 2 hours nearly everyday apparently + 2 hour coach ride with some crazy guy driving to get to the hotel :help: )
Corfu
Cyprus?
+1 for Egypt, is really cheap and always hot. Scenery and diving is amazing. Not that much nightlife but there is a place called Naama Bay which has a few restaurants, bars and clubs.
Only downside is the constant hassle you get of the natives to buy tat from their crappy shops. It's funny the first couple of nights but after 2 weeks you just want to punch them.

"I'll give you 2 camels for your wife"
That's the thing.
The Camels I came back with handy to have around the house though so it wasn't all bad.

For out and out relaxation what about a cruise?
Also I was thinking of doing Ireland on the bike next year... maybe you`d like to come with me?

South west Turkey is beautiful. And very very hot. We were there last October and it was about 30C then. Didn't have any flight delays (to Dalaman) and the transfer was good. Didn't go to Marmaris, we were island hopping on a friend's yacht, maybe you could try getting on a boat charter?
That's the thing.

Really? I smoked all mine:smt033

LOL they are cheap out there aren't they. Was quite funny seeing a woman back at Gatwick pleading that the 2 suitcases full of ciggies she brought back were for personal use.

Egypt:
If you're into diving Sharm would suit, there's a couple of lively bars in town but it's not too rowdy. If you prefer a spot of culture Luxor is just over the river from the valley of the kings and it's a short ride to some fairly impressive temples. If your budget will stretch to it you could consider a Nile cruise.
It won't be loafing on the beach weather though and it can get quite chilly at night so pack a fleece.
Southern Caribbean:
If you can find a reasonably priced flight I'd consider somewhere in the southern Caribbean. Maybe Dominica or Barbados. Temperatures should be nice, in the mid twenties with cooler evenings. They are little islands where nothing happens quickly, ideal for a relaxing break.

How bout a Med crusie or Baltic cruise?

Firstly, can I come?
Secondly, the Algarve is nice. I have been to Albufeira twice and it has got a bit of both, they have the old town and the new town. The new town has the strip with all of the bars and clubs and the old town is less noisey, lots of little restaurants.
Also, Cala D'Or in Majorca, same thing, has a few bars and clubs but has lots of quiet areas and places to chill. Both have beautiful beaches.

I've been flying holiday flights from East Midlands for the first time this year Sharm el Sheik and Dalaman are popular and reasonably priced with a couple of airlines operating it keeps the prices down. Cape Verde is supposed to be good about an hour south of Tenerife but not as highly developed.

Was going to suggest this, Cala D'Or is really nice, it's a resort town so intended for you to enjoy a different nice restaurant every night, lots of shops and bars, the beach is fairly unusual (it's in a little cove so it's sheltered) but we made a last minute booking and were really pleased with it all.
Plus there's a place down the coast that rents proper motorbikes.

I'll second that, especially as there is NO time difference, Tenerife sits on the same latitude as London so it's in GMT.
Los Christianos is nice, the H10 Oasis Moreque was nice when I went a few years ago, and it was next to the man-made beaches (althought the sand sticks to EVERYTHING), It's also close enough to the party area without being ontop of it meaning you can go there if you want but only if you want.
We stayed just up into the foothills across the motorway from Los Christianos - as you say, nice and quiet where we were, but not far (about €5 taxi ride iirc) from the nightlife if you wanted it!
Also, Siam & Loro parks are a great day out, good value if you buy the combined ticket too

Can I just say...I find it very amusing that the swear filter stops you reading the whole place name of...
S****horpe
:-)
Shell, you can get to the East Coast of the states, i.e. Fort Lauderdale above Miami, even peak season for well inside your budget.
Why not take a trip to your local travel agent, pick up a few brochures and have a good look at what's available. The right holiday will choose you! :-)
hehe, just beware of Fort Lauderdale during spring break - unless millions of students on the lash appeals to you of course!
But agreed, Fort Lauderdale, Miami or Orlando are all worth a visit, I didn't consider them to be low budget in my initial post!
Tenerife sits on the same latitude as London
You sure about that:confused:
I didn't even notice that - I automatically assumed it read "Longitude" - good spot :)

For a tight budget, Egypt is a good bet. Further south you go e.g. Hurgada or even Marsa Alam, is quieter and the coral is in better shape, less nightlife though than Sharm, which is touristville. Turkey seems to be going up in price but you could land a package deal, though again the further you go anticlockwise along the coast from Bodrum (costa del Turkey) towards Antalya (where the Turks all suggested I go on holiday) it gets a lot nicer. Greece might be better VFM though. Also have a look at some far east packages, there are some really good deals around for India, Thailand etc. at the moment.

Just returned from the Cape Verde Isles, NW Africa, flew out of B'ham 5.5hr flight. Wonderfull beaches, "one of the newly found" destinations. Worth trying before it becomes over subscribed.
Fair pricing for RIU hotels, fully inclusive Funani Hotel. Switch off or play?

I must be doing it wrong then as my last biking holiday cost me more than what my bike is worth!!
I did stay in 3 or 4 star hotels and dined in fine restaurants most nights though.

600-1000 isn't a bad budget, you could get away to the Caribbean for that money. I did two adults one child, four star, all inclusive in a quiet resort in Majorca for £1600 for two weeks this year.
The key bit of info missing is what time of year do you want to go?

I wasn't a big fan of Cancun. The tourist hotels are completely separate from the main town so you can't just pop to a local cantina when you want a break from hotel food. I liked Playa del Carmen much better, but you have to bear in mind I'm not much for sitting by the hotel pool. I'm more interested in seeing the sights, either above or below the water.

Ok picked Mexico and going Sept into October hopefully, anyone got any good hotels, all inclusive they been to and would recommend there. cancun is preferred ... Fankoo x

Depends what you want.
Personally I wasn't too impressed with Cancun. All the hotels are in a strip away from the main town which makes it difficult to try the local food or find anywhere nice to walk in the evenings.
I'd recommend staying in Playa del Carmen. It's not got the big international hotels that Cancun has, but I liked it much better. There are restaurants and shops within strolling distance and a regular ferry over to Cozumel for the full tourist trap experience.
Just my preferences,
Keith.

Last year I went to a tiny Greek island called Santorini and it is stunning. Really warm, good beaches, awsome food and within your budget and flight time.

Keith, cheers I will look into that too. Want to go to Mexico to be honest, kinda sentimental reasons. I been Told cancun is the place but will take a look at playa del carmen see which suits.
