I was looking at evilbay for a pinlock ready visor for my AGV S4.
Was wondering if non-genuine visor's are ok?
Any firment issues, or safety issues (i.e is it likely to shatter in my face should I bin it ;))
Cheers

Both my tinted and clear visors for my s4 are fine and neither of them are standard.
Fitting is fine although did have to adjust the plates on either side for a sunnger fit but i think it was abit lose from standard.

Ta muchly.
Gotta be worth a go at half the price ;)
I got a black visor off racevisors.co.uk that says it will fit both my Stealth and Ti-Tech. Fits better on the Stealth if i'm honest but cant complain, genuine visors not worth it IMO :)

Nice to know!
I tried washing mine in Fairy liquid the other day and even after a bit of careful buffing, it's scratched to crap.
Useless in the dark, car headlights blur...

Depends on what you buy, there's no question that premium makers visors last very well, (unless you're a butcher of course!), a number of aftermarket visors I've used over the years haven't been as well made or coated.
The problem is consistency, even the same make visors fared differently.
Genuine visors are dear it's true, but in my lengthy experience have been a better and more certain buy.
Looked after they last a long time too, and that doesn't mean you need to be obsessive, just reasonable care.

Well thats the thing - I havent abused this visor (its the original one still, but only a few months old) - and it's neigh on dangerous in my opinion.
Might sound tight but in the back of my mind, I dont want to buy another genuine visor (at full cost) if its like this! Swings and roundabouts I guess.
Reckon I'll take a chance ;)

the only visor problem i had was on a old AGV about 7 years ago, where even as a pillion it striped its outer coating, the visor now on my GP-Tech is ok but still scratches far to easy. my roof boxer visor was much harder wearing
i need a tinted visor so am also undecided what to do, i like the look of a dark tint but then id have to change the bloody thing over at night, so think i need to get a pin lock.

I'm with Squidly on this one,if purely for the fit and wind noise.

How much tint do you get on Iridium visors? Are they ok for night time use?
Not much point getting a perma dark tint now, most days by the time I finish work it's dark!

If you are going to the expense of buying an iridium pinlock visor surely OE clear is cheaper and more beneficial in poor light. What is the price difference,a tenner?
Can't understand your reasoning on this one. You are complaining about scratching affecting night vision but want tint:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Iridium Tint is not suitable for night use. Its not as dark as a heavy smoke visor is but its still no good at night and it is IIRC illegal to use one at night to. Mine is marked "For Daytime use only"
Iridum visors also scratch very easily which is something to bear in mind.
I know some people do, but I would never advocate cleaning your visor with washing up liquid, its got salt in it, which is whats probably scratched your existing visor.
Go to halfords and get one of the Muc Off kits, ( Micofibre cloth and cleaning spray ) much safer for your visor. Beware if you have an Arai as they dont recommend that you use the Auto Glym visor cleaner. I cant remember why, but something to do with it damaging the glue or whatever they use to attach the vents etc to the helmet.

When I clean my visor I take it off an run it under warm water and only use my finger tips or wet kitchen roll to gently shift and bugs or dirt. No buffing, shake it dry and
No matter how careful you are, buffing is only going to cause minute scratches which magnify headlights at night, no matter how soft the cloth is, it will have a abrasive quality to the plastic.
Cleaning your visor with your glove is also going to cause scratches
No buffing
If you're buying pinlocks I think the yellow insert is good for night vision, cutting down on glare and improving your night vision, but don't quote me on that, check the websites

Ah thanks for the info chaps, I'll steer clear of iridium then. I wasnt sure how much the iridium affected night vision hence asking.
The price difference is something like £18 vs £42!
