Do you find that you ride "calmer" on the road, having got your buzz from the trackday, or do you find that you ride even more aggressively, looking for that same buzz?

Just a general question.

A few days after the trackday I find I ride more agressive

I tend to ride home from a trackday very sedately after the adrenaline wears off. Then the next day I do seem to push it a little more, knowing what the bikes capable of. Still not a good idea though :)

I know several people who do a lot of track time but refuse to ride on the road as they wish to retain their license.

Why do you ask? Everyone is different so why does it matter how someone else behaves afterwards? Is this to help you decide to do a TD or something? If you want to do one, do one.

My only one so far helped me feel a bit more confident, didnt make me ride much faster, just helped convince me how far the bike could go over comfortably, albeit i was probably half at what it could do, cos im crap.
Im planning on doing at least 3-4 next year, possibly even on a track bike if i have a better year.

I ask becuase I'm curious. It doesn't matter to me how someone behaves afterwards. I'm just curious.

This has no influence on whether or not I will do one, as I already know the answer to that.

Happy?

I wasn't seeking happiness. This question just seemed like it would have some bearing on your future activities.

Are you then seeking sadness? ;)

I see where you are coming from, but no, I already know I will be doing some trackdays when resources permit.

The reason I got thinking about this is a conversation earlier today I had with someone else.

I -thought- when I got a bike I would get my "buzz" from that, and be a lot more calmer in the car. But in fact the opposite has happened, when I'm in the car now I just get frustrated with not being able to filter and having crap acceleration. Thought then shifted to trackdays somehow.

Since doing trackdays I ride more confidently, more precisely and I see and use more of the road. Also I react to situations much qucker.

I don’t think my road riding has really changed much since doing regular track days. I do find it more irritating though. Living in a built up area and now my playground is blanket 50 mph and quite heavily enforced. I’ve found myself doing a lot more tack miles than road miles this year if you exclude the riding to and from tracks. I always take it really easy on the way home from a track and often don’t ride for a week afterwards.

Ratty has made a good point bout taking it easy coz on my last track day i dropped it on the way home, it was not due to ragging it, mainly tiredness from the long day

I find I ride steadier on road now after getting into trackdays this year (done 9). My mate agreed about high speeds but still corner fairly quick cos still feels like cruising after track cornering speeds. I seem to be thinking more about preserving my tyres and pads and petrol for next track day cos they have cost me a fortune this year. That is due to using road legal track tyres (diablo supercorsas sc1/sc2 not road baised BSB ones)that also dont warm up right on roads, the edges go cold quickly if not cornering hard enough. I find now congestion on roads drives me mad after trackdays, I have not bothered riding on road hardly since early summer. If thinking of going out on it I try put the petrol money in a pot instead toward next trackday.

I've given up road riding! Just doesn't do it for me the same way as racing does. I'll never say never, but for now, I am more than happy to just stick to the track.

i did my first track day on Sunday, I rode the bike there like an absoulte knobhead, rode around the track like an absoulte knobhead then rode home like an absoulte knobhead.

I a seriously considering spending less time on the road and doing more track days though cause i know that this absoulte knobheadness will end in tears one day.

Only problem is I enjoy the freedom of a bike where you can go off exploring places.

Will probably keep the blade for the track and get a more sedate tourer for the road.

Word for word +1

I keep considering going back on the road and the thought quickly fades. Loss of licence, nutters in cages, tractors, horse poops, lamp posts, walls, hedges.

I do miss the rideout peeps though.

Is the need for a thrill that much that you dont trust yourself doing the odd rideout?

Or is it more the case that its not worth keeping a roadworthy bike (andall the associated expense - tax, MOT, insurance) for the odd rideout?
