It rele up to you. If u can afford it and the insurance is ok why not go for it
I "upgraded" my SV650S to a GSXR750 K7.....then came back to a SV.
For these reasons:
1: Comfort.
2: V-twin-ness.....IMO, IL4's all sound the same. (modern ones).
Don'y get me wrong the power was awesome, and if I could have afforded to keep both I would have. But I'm plenty happy with my SV and although I would like more power, I won't be going back to a sports bike.
really is personal choice and your circumstances too, Id like to upgrade to sv thou as my next bike as I imagine it will have the extra edge in performance im looking for next time.
You really need to try some different bikes to see what you like, you may just prefer the sv, plus good excuse to go road testing :D
You kind of know when you want a change, as already mentioned go take some test rides however bewarned make sure you can afford to change before doing this as can be expensive :)

Its good to try all ive gone from il4 sports to sv then back to il4, i really enjoyed my 5 years on sv's but just fancied a change :) glad i did really because i now am really enjoying the il4 again :) i get bored easy but after 2 years on the gsxr i'm still grinning :)
I see no reason to change my SZ. It does everything I want. If your doing all your riding on the road the big capacity sports bikes will rarely get anywhere near the limit especially if you live in town.
If you want the SZ to feel sportier, lower gearing, jack up the rear end and go and enjoy that ace motor.
Mines bog standard but it's ace just the way it is.

Have you got any sports bike riding mates who will let you play with their bikes for a bit to see if its what you really want. The only reason i would change now would be for a naked sv thou mmm.
I had the same thoughts over the summer.. thought I should at least try a ss600. I had in mind to part with the sv1000 and now ended up with both. It depends on what kind of riding you intend to do. Mine generally is a commuting to which the sv1000 is great no frills and perfect for the winter. If I had to choose I'd end up keeping the sv1000 for practicality. But for pure pleasure and colour and all round shininess it would be ss600.
1000cc Sports bikes are for willy waving rights only. Totally pointless on the road and less fun than a decent ss600.
mm some good point's , think a 750 is the way forward dont think a 600 would suite after being use too a 12 naked bandit then me sv1000 think i would miss the pull !!!!
