Does anyone know if any of the CBR600 headers/downpipes will fit a CBR400 (NC23)? If so, what years?
I've brought a part complete 400 for a winter hack but it hasnt got any part of the exhaust system on it.
Any help much appreciated :)

The short answer is no.
The longer answer is, yes with a lot of work. From what I remember the 600 pipe of the approximate years will line up with the frame mounts, however the header will not line up with the engine block. NC29 pipes will fit the headers but not the frame. You are best off going with NC23 pipes. However if your wanting something on the cheap then you will have a slight problem, as there aren't any cheap replacements. Try eBay as sets do appear on there sometimes, but although they will be better than nothing they will not be mint.
As for the tank again its a no, I don't know of anyone doing it. However like with all these things it depends on the size of your hammer and how ascetically pleasing you want it to be and how much you have to spend on it. Though I do wonder why you would want to do that.
This post does assume you have the NC23 Tri-Arm model and not the Areo. If your talking Areo then I do not know but suspect the above will still stand.

Yeah it's the Tri-Arm model I've brought. Only reason I ask if 600 parts fit is because there aren't too many used exhaust systems on ebay at the moment for the 400 (there's 1 for the NC23 and 1 for the NC29), however, there are some brand new stainless steel systems for approx £180 (the used set is up for £120).
Maybe the s/steel system would be a better option as the bike will be used in the winter?
As for the tank, it's only because there seem to be more good condition 600 tanks than 400, but at the end of the day they'll do the job.
Thanks for the info
