Has anyone tried to assemble a 03 motor onto 05 engine casings? I've recently bought an 03 race bike, have only ridden it 3 times and have discovered the left hand engine casing is cracked. I'm struggling to find 2nd hand replacements but have come up with some from a 05 model. Suzuki have told me that they are different and have different part numbers but they can't tell me how they are different or if they are compatable! Has anyone out there got experience of this? If so I'd love to know if I can use them or not.
Cheers

Offhand I think they all fit together, the K5 has an extra oilway in head casting for camchain tensioner, maybe this follows all way up from casing?
Ask zadar :)

It is possible to put K3 internals into K5 crankcases. The gearbox shafts are different so some jigging about needs to be done with those.

Something to do with clutch IIRC, vague memory that you can migrate everything but need to match countershaft to cases you are using.
You need to match drive shaft with cases. K3 is year specific cases. It uses shaft from 1st gen. 04 and up changed.

Thanks for that guys, I've spoken to a guy in the states who specialises in SV's and he said your right, the counter shaft is longer in the K4 onwards, so I'll need a newer shaft if I want to use the newer casings. Thanks again you've been a great help in getting me sorted!
