My new job is ace, I love blasting from town to town, supporting disabled adults, it is great fun too.
Only today it wasn't.
The XJ refused to start last night and I ended up riding to work on the SV. The last of my cash had been spent filling up the XJ fuel tank to the brim because I have some miles to do this week. So I had a full tank on a bike that would not start again. The SV was on the reserve, but I had no choice and took her to work. Riding her was beautiful, although I worried about her all night being stuck outside in the clients garden while I did the night shift.
Then this morning I took a blast to Portishead for work and amazingly I got there and managed to get to a garage just as the fuel started to run out. My SV loves me even though I treat her unkindly some days. So with the last fiver in my bank account spent on petrol, I take the Clevedon Road out of Portishead and head back to home and then work. The road was beautiful and I swear to you, if life had a sound track then today it was a singing Suzuki V twin roaring down the A Roads. It was so much fun I actually did not want to go back to Weston.
However, back in the garage, the XJ had stopped sulking and with the SV reserve light warning of impending dry tank, I swapped back to the XJ. It started first time and barely hiccupped. That was the last kind thing she did to me today.
After work and close to midnight (my working day so far had been Tuesday 09:00 to Wednesday 23:00) I got out and found that the bike would not start. Not only that, the right hand rear suspension had snapped at the top eyelet, turning the bike into a monshock...
Wifey came and picked me up. I am home now. The XJ is once again in the garage. The car and trailer are away for the night, I am very, very tired and yet all I can think about is that awesome road between Clevedon and Portishead. What a brilliant fecking ride. :D
