Woke up this morning feeling absolutely fine, 2 hours later and im at the docs begging for some pain relief. I thought it was appendicitis but no, kidney stones!!

I've had 3 kids but never experienced pain like it. Thankfully it subsided after lunch and ive just felt cr@p since then and terrified the pain was going to return, but it hasn't and hopefully never will.

It wouldn't be so bad but I started a new job 8 weeks ago and so far I've had to take time off for two lumbar punctures for a head condition which i'm now looking at needing shunt surgery for, and now this. Im not sure that im gonna get through my probation period with this record, I just hope hope i've done enough to prove myself willing and capable that they'll be understanding.

I know, i'm just wallowing in self pity and need to get a grip but why does life always seem to be one step forward and three back, its so damn frustrating!!!

Ouchie.....rest up and hope you feel better soon hun. Your employers should be fine if you are proving your value while you are there.

Kidney stones - no fun.

It's been a few years since I've had any bother from them, but I remember well how much it hurts, I don't think I'll ever forget.
You have my sincere sympathy.

Ouch, you have my sympathy too. I had one a few years ago in the middle of nowhere in New Zealand. It's not an experience I'd wish on anybody (except perhaps daytime TV presenters)

You have my utmost sympathy. In June of this year I had the last of 5 operations in 6 months for kidney stones. I've broken loads of bones, had a heart attack and a mild stroke, but none of it came close to the pain I felt on 27th December 2009, when I collapsed at home with kidney pain.

Hope it gets sorted soon
