Parking charge help

Hi all,

Received a parking charge through the post. Now I vaguely remember the 'incident' as I was lost so pulled onto an industrial estate to turn sat nav on when a man (wearing a suit) came over and said this is private land and you cannot park here, so I appologised and moved on. I was there about 30 seconds on what looked like a normal road.

The letter I received said a parking charge was attached to my vehicle (it was not) and I didn't pay. Normally I would ignore the notice but as it's a company car and the fine gets paid automatically.

Worth fighting to see whether I can get my money back or should I just leave it?

You could ask for evidence that a parking charge (ticket) was attached to the vehicle. Traffic Wardens are supposed to take a photo of the ticket attached to the car. Not sure about private traffic people but no doubt someone will be along shortly to advise.

I'd be tempted to write back, tell them the circumstances and that you have no intention of paying unless they can prove otherwise.

Whatever happens, you've probably got a very understanding boss who'll cover the ticket with an o/t claim.

I'm going to phone them and get some details but it's already been paid by the company and deducted from expenses automatically, therefore I doubt they'll issue a refund even if they are in the wrong.

True, I do have a good boss though ;)

What?! Thats ridiculous. Surely someone should have the job of authorising the transactions?! Never pay a ticket from a private firm.

If it is not a council ticket and was Private property, ignore it.
