Hi
I've been on the hunt for a headstock stand for cheap and that is like rocking horse s***e.
I've found a germany firm on ebay flogging them for £36+ £8pp new.
I'm wondering if I would be stung for custom charges and VAT if I buy one?
Thanks in advance. Mickey taking is allowed

not as far as i know. Germany is in the EU same as bringing wine and fags from EU.
If you pay VAT on the item in the country you're buying it from then there's no more to be paid here. Also, as it's coming from within the EU there is no import duty.
Treat purchases from anywhere in the EU the same as popping down the road to a local shop to buy them.

No because Germany is part of the EU and its a personal purchase within the union and its not a commercial quantity
Only stuff from the USA & China would you be charged Customs Duty & VAT

Doesnt it make it exempt from vat if it's marked as a gift ?

No point, as there's no Customs declaration sticker on the packet, VAT is paid at the point of purchase in the EU
Its only outside the EU where you might avoid paying the VAT & duty if your seller ticks the gift box on the declaration

Thats because although they are part of the UK, they aren't part of the EU in relation to goods. Because they have their own tax regime its considered outside the EU. So goods coming from there would be liable to UK duty & vat, so must have a customs declaration on them.
There's a few other tax havens in Europe, IOM for starters, Helegoland off Germany too
