Hey all,
I know I'm not on here much, but going be here less more likely, due to no SV now.
It's dead...
Got taken out on A48 between Bridgend and Porthcawl, heading to the latter,
by a panicking new driver joining the A48.
But I'll try and post from time to time.
And Qs about the crash just shout, as for my injuries only a cracked sternum, cracked r shoulder, chipped vertebrae, bruised lung and more bruises, quite light really.
Cheers all

Yowch! Sorry to hear this, get well soon!
For some reason all the drivers have taken leave of their senses this November.
How dead is the SV?
Sorry to hear of your off,
Shame to loose another SV on the local roads.
You going to repair yours or get another one?

Hey guys, havent seen the extent of the damage to SV, but chances are I'll just get a replacement bike, may even be an SV.
Can you get ins payouts to cover repair of a "written" off bike?

I think they give you the market value of it... and you could then buy it back off them and carry out the repairs yourself. When I binned my SV this was suggested by Hovis & co. but I decided to move on.
Your idea of repairs is different from the insurer - if they do it, it will be to absolutely pristine condition. If you do it, you'd just repair what's broken and so long as it satisfied you, you'd be fine with it. 'You' would probably work out cheaper. You can also pull a Welsh_Rider and take the opportunity to upgrade anything that's broken.
I take it from 'haven't seen the damage' that you weren't doing too great in the immediate aftermath. :(

Metalangel; I'll consider this indeed...
As for not seeing the bike, nope I wasnt good at all.
Accident happened on the evening of the 4th Nov, and am only now writing on the .Org.
Was in Critical Care for 3 days, then moved to recovery ward until the 11th. Been limping around home since.
Cant do much in the sense of garage work :D and lifting anything with right shoulder is agony.
Have a winter hack, an ancient BMW K100, so will probably use ins money to buy a decent replacement to SV in spring time (ins money + savings = nicer bike)...
Cheers all!

That ain't good! I admire your optimism and persistence!
Best thing for it is to see it as a chance to try a new bike if there's anything about the SV you were unhappy with... or just get a new SV.
All the best, man.

An update for you all...
Went to see the bike at the car pound where it was put after accident.
Looks like I braked hard, drop it onto its left side, bailing from bike myself, it has then slid inot and under the offending car.
Both handle bars a crunched into the tank, the front fairing is gone, bits of radiator missing. Frame is cracked and scarred all over. Well and truely a dead bike.
Amazed how little injury I sustained when I see the damage caused to the bike from 50 mph to stop!
Wasn't permitted to take pictures of bike, but guys involved with police report said they'd email me their official pictures, so will try and post on here later.
Cheers all!

Glad to hear your ok.
Could have ended so much worse.
For future reference though, if your going to crash, please do it on a curvy and help us rid the world of them ;)

Obviously your opinion of "light" differs from many other people's, lol

Dude, unless you write "Cymraeg_Atodeg" no-one will know it is me, lol.
Good luck with finding a nice new ride Bokki

Hey all,
Just a little update.
Rode for the first time since the crash, 3 weeks ago, on my (bought as a winter hack before crash) BMW K100RT.
Completely different to the SV, obviously, but a solid way to reintroduce myself.
As for a new agile bike, thinking of a 06 Triumph Daytona 955i, or similar, may come back to SVs after a change.
Open to suggestions...
Cheers
P.S. Agreed with parents to wear a hi-vis textile jacket, so bought a Weise Buzz Jacket. Not fetching, but sensible when commuting to and from work!

Just as an update for you guys, the aftermath photos...
A Cat. B write-off.
Insurance company has valued it at £3000, which is thankfully what I insured it for in the event I crashed it (remember she pulled out in front of me!)...
And also have to see a physio now! She's nice!
So just waiting on the rest of the injury/missed work payments, and then get a new bike!

Poor bike!
Still, physio. I also had a 'nice' physio, in that I don't think she had even known the touch of a man, bless her little wide-eyed naivete.
