View Full Version : Latest theories on tyres for Gladius

Bought a gladius in the summer and very happy with it, but in all this wet cold stuff the Dunlop Quali's are a bit scary. I'm just taking it gently round the corners and not trusting the tyres too much - very much point and squirt riding at the moment with low corner speeds. I'm someone who mainly rides for practical reasons - to get to and from work etc.. so I need a tyre that works all year.

BTW. I found the Dunlops were great in warm dry weather and I could really push to the edges but they don't like this cold damp stuff.

So, what do you reckon? What is the best tyre nowadays? Had Avon Storms on the old SV before it got wrecked in a crash in the spring. I thought these were pretty good. Do they still rule?

Best wishes

Ian

just in case you are a new rider, new tyres in this weather are asking for trouble until they are run in

Pair of storms up for sale here as I can't stick em or they can't stick me to the road they take ages to warm up but are good for wet riding front is a month old and scratched in but back is new £100 plus post or pick up from pennines.

Its all preference at the end of the day, if you liked storms on your sv go for them again, ive never tried storms but i just got some conti road attack 2's for my ZX6R and i love them, didnt require any scrubbing in because of their traction technology and with them even in the wet the bike feels like it is on rails :D
