They don't do gravy up there either...it's salt'n'sauce - which is like a vinegar made of HP...it is nice though.

Then again, chippies darn sarf don't do gravy either....I mean...chips and gravy has got to be one of the most 'normal' combinations ever?

Round pegs and square holes just don't go. So loving square sausage may just work out for you ;)

There arew two things that the Scottish will never be able to beat the English at.
1) fish and chips
2) Black putting.

I've been up here for 18 months now and some of the offerings make me want to cry in pity!

That only tends to be around Edinburgh - but you're right, the chippys up here don't tend to have gravy, or chippy style curry sauce either.

90% of the time, you're bob on, but the fish in some of the chippys over on the East coast is just sublime. Apart from the famous one at Anstruther (which, come to think of it I've never been to - might be a rideout for tomorrow's lunch!), some of the places around Arbroath and East Fife are fantastic.

People eat sausage sandwiches, fact,so if the normal bread is flat and square you make a sausage to fit the bread--------SIMPLES:rolleyes:
This is based on Scottish ingenuity and inventiveness
Southern link sausage needs to have a a special loaf baked to fit the sausage, not quite so simples:confused:

Honestly?.... It's gay, that's what it is.

My old dad isn't 100% English and I'm even less so, so we can get away with saying these things.

You've been going to the wrong f****g places matey! F****g Cod & Chips bollox that's been in a freezer for three weeks and is chewy at the edges? Gimme a Haddock that was bought from Anstruther fish market a few hours before it was fried any day.

I don't know what black putting is, but Black Pudding in England is full of big cubes of fat! Yuck! Even Halls stuff from the supermarket is better than that. Get yourself over to Bothwell and try the best black pudding in Scotland from this guy http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=bothwell&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Bothwell,+Glasgow,+South+Lanarkshire,+United +Kingdom&ll=55.802716,-4.068144&spn=0.00224,0.006866&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=55.802744,-4.068299&panoid=CaIMN6GUfTVEL2rONpK3pA&cbp=12,204.09,,0,12.17

You don't know what fish n chips are until you've been to Whitby. They deep fry whales there, and they have to cart em in on a wheelbarrow, just to serve on your very own platter!

Scottish Breakfast wins hands down any day - Lorne sausage(square), White puddin, sliced fried haggis, tattie scone etc - way better than that southern sofftie english with tomatoes!!!!wtf tomatoes for breakfast!!!

As for chippies, have to concede that one:(
Chippies in South west Scotland are Gash and even worse in Glasgow. :(:(:(
Although the 'other' chippie in Anstruther is bloody good.

Give me Sheffield Fishcake(2 slice of potato with fish in the middle and then battered) and Curry sauce anyday.

There's a lot more than one good chippy at Anstruther you know. From Berwick on Tweed to Peterhead, and along to Lossiemouth too. Even some further up the west coast. Shame they forgot to open one in Edinburgh!
