Hello Org,

I have long been suffering with my since I stopped playing football about 5 years ago. I have since then really got into long distance timed walking such as the Lyke Wake Walk and Yorkshire 3 peaks etc. However last year while completing the coast to coast I pulled my knee on the North Yorkshire moors.

I eventually went to the doctors and had an MRI which reveiled a tear in my cartlidge. I was told this tear could be repaired with a athroscopic procedure.

Well 2 weeks ago my date arrived and I had my operation on my knee. Well 2 weeks has been an gone and I am still in agony and can't walk at any distance at all. Riding the bike is no chance, and I can't even bend it to get in car.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this, as the hospital told me 2 weeks and I am no where near now.

Cheers,
Dan

Go back... and do it as soon as you can. If something is not right, they will have a better chance of fixing it the sooner you let them try.

Get yourself back in there mate...good luck!

Plenty of experience as my gf has suffered similar in both knees. The injuries vary a lot, and hospitals don't seem to have a clue, and also seem to give it a low priority as it's not life threatening.

Not good news. Miss Ophic took a good few months to recover from the first knee problem, and the second is still ongoing, several years later.

All I can say is, make sure you keep on top of your doctor/surgeon about it. They seem happy to keep telling you the pain will go in time, pack you off with painkillers (which won't be strong enough as none are) and see you in a month's time, when they tell you exactly the same, and so on.

Dan, havent any procedures but i feel your pain.
I played sunday football for about 9 years at a rugged pace, im paying for that now.
I still play in a gym with mates (kick around mainly) and my knees sometimes next day are in agony.
The building job i do has me kneeling a lot and even with knee pads that can still be painful.
Once i can finance a MTB im stopping football as im told its less stress on the joints and physiotherapy actually use cycling as a method for treatment.

Hope it improves mate.

i had an arthoscopy a few years back. I was walking on a path at a local shop, didnt see a small tree stump and kicked it as i was walking. the vibration and twisting motion caused my cartlidge to "flip" up, and as i then put my foot and leg down the cartlidge was squashed by my femur! pain? no schit!! i therefore was unable to straighten my leg and couldnt walk.

had the arthocopy and meniscectomy a week later and when i woke the next morning after the op i had a physio come in, tell me to get up and stand up properly. naturally i was very cautious as the pain was still in my mind but stood no problem, walked gingerly for about 20 yards up and down the corridor. the mrs picked me up couple of hours later, was home shortly after that... and... i was playing football less than 8 weeks later! un frickin believable!!!

in summary...GET IT LOOKED AT, IT AINT RIGHT!!!!!
