After starting my 2000 curvy yesterday I very quickly had a small puddle of petrol underneath it. :smt086 I traced it to the pair of breather hoses that peek out from underneath the carbs. What causes petrol to run out of these? I did some searching on the forum which suggested it might be something to do with the carb floats. What should I check? The Haynes manual shows a complete overhaul but hopefully that's not necessary... :-k

If it is the floats try tapping the carb float bowls with a spanner or something solid. The problem is often caused by a bit of flotsam jamming the valve and this can dislodge it.

Yup float bowls but I'd strip them down properly

Thanks guys. I'll try tapping the float bowls and if that doesn't work I guess I'll have to take them apart.

One way that does sometimes work is to drain the carbs using the drain screws, assuming the problem is just a bit of crud in the float value this can sometimes dislodge it.
The other side of this coin is that sometimes the drain screws never re-seal and you have to strip the carbs anyway.... ;-)
