Because we all get the 29th April off for some wedding.

So thats a 4 day week, followed by a 4 day weekend, then a 3 day week followed by a 3 day weekend.

Methinks there will be some serious mileage in April!

Whoops, its even better!

May day is the following monday! so thats two 4-day weekends in a row.

Lucky you buggers who get the bank holidays:smt071
Try working for the Irish, and you get jack squat days off bank holiday wise in the UK, because they aren't recognised in Northern Ireland or the Republic.

So whilst you lot are out playing on bank holidays I'm forced to work whether I like it or not..:p:p
So the Royal Wedding won't mean jack either when it comes to getting a day off - you virtually have to be sick or dying....

BSB at Oulton Park me thinks an extra day of getting Ratted :-)

Went to book the extra days off and the director came out with:

"we're not actually required to let you have the extra bank holiday"

They'd had an email from their HR consultant to inform them as much.

Anyone know if this is true? My contract says xx days holiday + bank holidays.

If they do stop it theres going to be hell to pay.

Yeah I reckon/hoping work will give us the three days off as extra holiday too :) it's been mentioned.

I shall be working :-( unless the rest of the world decide they are going to celebrate it too.....means all markets other than UK will be business as usual.

As for whether they have to grant it or not....interesting info here.....

We cant book our leave until the new year and by then everyone will have figured it out.

Ed

I will still be self-employed (or unemployed) by then so I can just decide not to work:D

Wife and daughter will be watching all day on the box (I won't), they have even threatened to go to London for the atmosphere, I like Wills and Kate but not that much:D

Do you do it in person or e-mail a form?

Fill out what you need, set it up so it doesn't send until 00:00:00 1/1/11.

You should be first in the queue as I bet most folk are waiting until they are in work.

I've asked our Human Remains Dept if we are getting it off.

They're pretty good tbf so will have to see. If they are I'm taking those three days and putting some miles n the bike. Especially on the 29th, see how fast I can get up to Hartside.

It is sneaky, and I like it but unfortunatly its done in person.
Only 16 personel working here atm. Both Geo and Structures departments have 3 people working, Admin has 4 and Civils (mine) has 6.
Each department is allowed no more than 2 people off at the same time :(
I'll have only been back from Paternity leave a couple of weeks so im assuming I'll draw one of the short straws and have my leave application denied in place of someone else. Which is a bit crappy cos I'd love to be able to spend as much time as possible with the new baby, so the whole 11 days for the price of 3 sounds fantastic!

We ain;t getting it - surprise surprise!
We get 6 public holidays a year - so it'll be diddly squat for us as per usual

I'll get the day off depending on the cricket fixtures. If there's cricket on I'll have to work, but if it falls on a weekend or bank holiday I get TOIL. Plan to be somewhere other than London that day. It'll be travel chas as usual.

Ed
27-11-10, 04:36 PM
Oi will you please stop derailing the thread!!!!!!

I'm suggesting a camping weekend somewhere. We could do ARTNW - the Annual Ride That Never Was - and use the campsite at Wem.

Anyone else got a better idea??

MisterTommyH
27-11-10, 10:55 PM
Sounds like a brilliant idea! I'm there if it's an all abilities ride!
