esata question

I have:

A dell studio xps 13 with e-SATA port with Powershare
&
A 3.5 inch sata ii hard disk

Can I buy an esatap cable that will enable me to plug the hard disc to the laptop without an enclosure?

Would be nice to avoid buying something I don't need!

not had first hand on this one but I think you will need to find a way of supplying power to the hard drive if it is standalone.

I see some external cases have a usb cable to provide juice

try maplins, i know they do one for ide drives, so they might do sata
