Got a call at about 5:15pm.

From an old friend, "just to let you know my grandson, who's birth we celebrated last week died this afternoon."

Born at 26 weeks and 2 days, weighing 1lb 8oz. Battled for a week.

Sat here in tears, totally gutted and wishing I could do anything that would ease their pain.

Thinking of you and your family.

RIP little fella.

My sympathies to the family.

My Neice would have been Nearly 4 years old in Jan 11, she passed away after being born prem, similar age to your friends grandson.

Never an easy thing to attempt to come to terms with or deal with :(

Thats terrible, thoughts with the family, gods knows how they will cope with that.
Too much bad news around at the moment.

I found out a 2nd cousin of mine was murdered a few weeks ago, id never met her i dont think, charged 4 people over it.

So sorry pal, and I know that doesn't come close.

My son stopped breathing twice when he was born. He spent 8 weeks in special care. He came through but now has cerebal pausey! I wouldn't change him for the world though.

Like I say, sorry for what you are going through!

OMG Brian that is tragic... i`m crying myself and can empathise with your friends grief as I too lost a son who died at birth tho he was full term. Hearing of loss like this brings all the pain and emotion back and I just want to hug that little boys family and tell them the pain will eventually become bearable.

Life is so cruel and my deepest sympathy to your friend and the whole family. A brave fight from such a tiny little boy R.I.P. little one xxxxx

So sorry to hear this!
How fragile we all are in this world I just hope there is a place where they can meet again.

It is very sad news Bri. I can only partially understand the sadness, having miscarried two children and battle to have two lovely lads born. Its a terrifying ordeal enough to go through early labour, as did I at 26 and 28 weeks, but to get a wee one into the world and watch them battle only to lose them is so so sad.
Although Oliver went on to be delivered three weeks early, just sitting day after day in the NeoNatal, it puts into perspective how fraglie a little ones life is.

RIP little one, god bless.

This is very sad for all the family, our thoughts are with them. We had twins born at 26 - 27 weeks, our son died at 7 days, the lassie is now a typical 18 year old. Every birthday, christmas and many, many other occations you wonder what may have been. RIP
