OK, we all know the tool kit that comes with the SV is made out of playdo and about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I assume some / most people have done this especially those with a pointy as it has the really annoying box where everyone can rob your tool kit from.
Anyway, if you were to throw the chocolate Bob the builder tools in the bin (Apart from the spark plug spanner) what would be a good idea to keep in that little space for tools?
i didn't get a tool kit with mine... i do have a left over curvy tool kit, is it the same?
just carry an aa rac etc.etc card. i used to keep my disc lock it there instead.

IMO, the sv kit is ok if your stuck on the side of road and need to make emergency repairs like change a battery or something, id never use them though if i was in the garage doing work on it.
Way i look at it, its better than having no tools at all.
If your doing a long trip with friends you could each carry some quality tools that collectively make up a decent kit.

Euro tour i'd carry a tool kit, lube and cleaner. A lot of the mags do drum that beat on tour
the only thing i have ever wished i have had while out and about is a puncture repair kit.

+1 the only puncture I've had (touch wood etc) was in a finished tire local to me dealers

I agree, I have used the tool kit a few times when you are in the middle your journey and your wing mirror comes loose or like me once, my ignition went (fine then parked and then wouldn't start, no power no light no nothing)
In that case I took everything apart with the sv toolkit but they realized it was the ignition that was faulty so the AA Membership Card came out, lol.
But yes! you can't service the bike with the kit..

I just carry a mobile and rac card.
theres photos on here to prove im not afraid to use them either!
Just out of interest though, dont you have to cut away the box if you fit a different shock?

Ive had a curvy and then upgraded to the pointy ;)

Screwdriver set with changable ends.
A few sockets for the end of said screwdriver.
Cable ties
Insulating tape
Allen key set
Pliers/Snips
AA Card
Pack of fags and a lighter
Thats what I tend to carry with me and have managed to fix a handful of minor problems with it.

I cut the toolbox off my K5S when I fitted a GSXR600K5 shock because I needed the clearance, it also left me with enough clearance to fit the rather nice Ermax K3 hugger I had kicking around. I shoved the tools under the seat, but never used them... ever. I only put them there so I wouldn't lose them for when I sold the bike.
I have taken mine off and use it for bits about the flat! Fixed my hoover with it the other day! ;)

Only bit I use now is the spark plug spanner.
I took mine out as the cr@ppy soft case it comes in was ripped- tools rolling everywhere! Was thinking of getting a new, sturdier, case, but I'm sure there's better tools I could chuck under there if need be.
Just the disc lock there now...

Mine gets used quite often - none of the tools has let me down in it and I wouldn't want to go out without at least what Suzuki supply, plus zip ties.
Any major work on the bike sees me drag the tool box from the cellar of course :-)
I took out the tools and put real ones in, plus extra tools to do extra road side repairs. I also have a puncture repair kit and a compressor. Not yet had to use the compressor myself, but it did get used on AR10.
