View Full Version : AR11 Date Poll 2 - Date HARDER!
So the snow shows no signs of abating down here, but despite that, I have been able to contact the campsite and get a new idea of what dates are available.
From talking to the site, at present, all forms of accomodation are available at this time. However, to avoid the issues we had last time, I want to make the following clear: THE ONLY ACCOMODATION I CAN GUARANTEE IS CAMPING.
The only event that we're aware of that might clash with other interests is the WSB from Silverstone, which is the 29th to 31st weekend.

Voted , I get paid on the 15th of every month so any date after those will always suit me :)
Think it only fair to point out to everyone the first date is the only date outside of the school holidays. ;-)

's why I voted for the last two, we're more likley to be around later in Aug than in July.
Still can't see why we can't do it in June though. However no this is not a complaint.
There is a simple reason though... I'm away in June, and I think I probably need to be on site over the weekend

36 voters overall Quiff, but Andybrad, chris8886, Soulkiss have voted for every date, which obviously is a bit of a wasted vote because it'll have no impact, so 33 voters overall.
The poll means people won't be able to moan and the organisers don't have to pick a date out of a hat, but that's the only useful purpose it serves really.

Have voted for all dates,
Then have to arrange time off from work,which will be hard to get off due to it stupid system of allocating annual leave.
I want to jump up and down and demand August...
Because fracking 3rd year means I only get two weeks off IN AUGUST - and I don't want to ride down to the AR after a night shift and three hours sleep like I did this year....
edit: yes - I've already voted. just making my point.

Well if thats the message from the forum as a collective, i.e. you all want it the on the same weekend every year, then thats what we shall do. Its not down to us as admins / mods to decide this sort of thing.
However, thats a conversation for another time, lets get AR11 out of the way first ;)

Going by the way the owner was talking I doubt it would be a problem to stay sunday night or arrive thursday, but I'll check - thats probably what I'll end up doing.

Camping is booked - we've got a field to ourselves, so you can pretty much turn up on the weekend if you must. Its only a problem if you're a softie who needs a "roof" and "walls" and a "mattress", as those are going fast.

Theres probably a comment in there about taking the proper equipment - last time I needed to keep socks on, it was below zero and snowed (not elephant or dragon rally snow, but still...).

Yep, get yourself a decent quality sleeping bag MBK. If you wear a pair of trackkies and socks, inside a decent sleeping bag, and pull a walking jacket over your head, you should be toasty in freezing temperatures. If your going to do lots of biking weekends where you camp, it'll be worth the investment. You'll get a decent sleeping bag for about the same as one night in a B&B would cost you.
Alternatively I'm sure you could recruit somebody to climb in there with you and keep you warm (I'm happily married, sorry).

I tend to fall asleep on top of my Sleeping Bag in the summer , I hate being hot , don`t even know why I took one to the AR last time ..... oh wait , I stayed up most nights anyway :)

That actually works too, 1ltr drank in an few hours by me once, neat .... whilst I was camping in a very cold May. Felt nothing at all for at least a day :smt034
