Why the heck is it so hard to find?! So far the only places I've located would require shipping so I'm looking at just shy of £40/sheet :(

Does it have to be hardboard? http://www.pvrdirect.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?catref=S0765

Got a long steel rule, a marker pen and a drill? Voila, DIY pegboard.

I would not bother with that stuff, it is soft and easily damaged. I would just put some plywood up and put nails or screws in to hang your stuff on.

That's a hell of a lot of drilling on a 4x8 sheet :)

It's worked very well for me in the past (had it in my garage in Canada for years). Also screwdrivers don't hang so well from nails.

As chris says, its rubbish.

Make your own racking, its stronger and cheaper too.

3mm welding rod is great for stuff like that, just bend it to suit whatever rack you want to make and bend some little eyes on the end for fixing it to the wall.

Ply is loads better and it means you can easliy move stuff or put shelves up any damn place you like.
You can buy really cheaply sprung clips in loads of sizes that will take hammers, screwdrivers, etc etc.

Again Chris is right, (on a roll tonight mate) welding rod is great for bending into shape for holding tools.

I've had a hammer frog on my belt made from one for well over 15 years now.

Already have all the tool holders and hooks, so really just need the pegboard, rather than pi55ing about bending bits of wire. Don't need to hang shelving off of it as I've got more heavy-duty industrial/warehouse racking in my garage than I can make use of (have had to give a bunch of it away), and I won't be doing pull-ups off of it - so plywood is overkill for strength. Really just want to keep wrenches, screwdrivers etc nicely organised and in easy reach above my workbench.

As mentioned I had it in my previous garage for ages and it worked and held up really well, not to mention very tidy. The stuff in my Dad's garage had held up for 30 years (and a lot of use) before he sold the house (and may still be going strong). In fact, you might almost think it was made for the job ;)

Well thats it then youve made your mind up :)
Try searching board manufacturers than suppliers, i know of a big one by Junction 2 of the M5 (oldbury), cant remember name, but if they dont do it nobody does.

Great barr saw mill - even cut stuff to size for you. They have a huge variety of stuff so would be surprised if they don't have it.

My main question is, are you going to draw an outline in marker of the tools on the board? So you can identify what's missing.

I bought plastic pegboard from B+Q. Each pack had 4 sheets of about 1 foot by 2 foot black pegboard which clipped together in various ways. Included was a box with plastic jars, bins and clips of every imaginable, plus wall fittings. They were £4 each, I bought about 15 and covered everywhere.

its not "lame" its something I would do just cos I had peg board! first of all though I need a garage or shed big enough to put peg board in!

Some little things please some people.

The idea of working on stuff is to spend more time turning the spanners than looking for them, I can't be *rsed with shadow boards quite yet, though I'm not ruling it out at some point.
