I'd like to say a massive thanks to a Mr Walker of Versko in Glasgow.

Yesterday (06/12/2010) I was walking the 15 miles home from uni as there was no public transport at that moment in time. About 0.5 miles into the journey I put my hand into my back pocket, and found my pay packet, worth 30 hours, was gone. Retraced my steps and couldn't find it so resigned myself to the fact that it was a goner.

This morning I wake up to a missed call from my work, when I phoned them back, they said a guy had found my pay packet lying on the pavement and had googled the company on the pay slip to get in touch.

So all in all, I've not lost a weeks wages, there's still some goodness left in Glasgow! I am forever in the guys debt!

Rob Walker, You sir are a legend!

Yay...I love this story. Restores faith in humanity and all that, but more importantly...you get your wages on the run up to Christmas! :-)

Years ago I lost my wallet containing several hundred in Preston. When I got home, my bank phoned. A guy had contacted them using the details on my cheque guarantee card. I went up to his house, roughest council estate in Preston, He would not accept anything for his honesty.

So I went back that night left a bottle of good scotch on his door step with a thank you card and rang the doorbell.

It is nice to know there are still honest people in the world.

Good news Craig!!!! I suppose we don't give people enough credit for things like this. He defo needs a bottle of whiskey or something for this!

Awesome news... I always make a point of picking stuff up, normally dropped hats, gloves or scarfs at this time of year then tieing them to the nearest hand rail of lamp post.

Not on the same league as hundreds of pounds but it makes me feel good.

I lost a glove once, I was gutted I couldn't find it.

Yep i've to go and see him at his office tomorrow, and the first question's gonna be "what do you drink" at which point i'll run off to my favourite alchymahol shop, and get him a rather large bottle. It'd have been all too easy for him to have pocketed the ~£250 and thought no more of it!

That is great to hear that there are some decent people around especially at this time of year.

As i was coming out of McD's in Dundee on saturday the lady in front of me picked something up from the ground and it was a wad of money. She handed it straight to one of the members of staff who walked through the ice and snow to give it to the manager. It would be so easy for people to just put it in their pocket and spend it at the next shop.

Yeah, Glasgow is 99% people who would pocket it, as are most towns I suppose, but sometimes you get lucky and its the other 1% that pick it up!

I found a wallet once in the middle of the road. I didn't even bother to look inside it but handed it in to the police. The officer opened it and there must have been around £200 in it. There was no ID in it. What's the betting the wallet didn't get back to its owner?

if it didnt then after 3 months (iirc) it would have been returned to you.
when i was a mere whippersnapper i found a wallet and handed it in, police took my name etc.
2 weeks later the sargent turned up at our door with a massive bag of sweeties:cyclops: for me. bought by the cops. the "gentleman who had collected the wallet £180 (1985ish) had declined the Sargent advice to leave a reward. My dad found out later from friends in the force the "gentleman" had had a lot of expense following this in the way of parking tickets, car lights not working etc. :D

I wasn't asked for any details other than where I found it. I was not asked any details regarding myself and I offered none.

I should add this was many many years ago when I was in my teens and unawares of the rules and regulations of such matters.

Where's that then?

Good on him. I lost my very first paypacket when I was a lad (stuck it in the overalls "pocket" and it dropped out my trouser leg!).

Someone also turned that in to the Police which was very decent of them. They probably felt sorry for me - 70p an hour.
