If you cant run a browser to get to the website to download anything I think you are a bit stuck.

You could try reverting to a previous know good configuration but it'll depend on which operating system you are running as to the exact process you'll need to follow.

Failing that, got a mate who can download it for you, then copy it onto a USB stick and then run the installer from that on your laptop.

If you are using windows, can you

Right click start to get the explorer up
go to program files
go to Internet explorer
double click iexplore

Dunno if that will work because explorer has corrupted. I think I would do what Fizz has suggested, get someone to download IE and put it on a usb an try that.

P.S - Firefox is better!

+1

It may just be hiding.

May be worth going to the local newsagent and seeing what is on the free disks on the front of PC mags. Nearly always a free browser.

You could try just opening 'my documents' and type www.google.co.uk into the address bar see if it comes up with anything. If you can't find internet explorer (or any browser at all) you'll need access to another comp to download it and put it on a memory stick or something. Can't see how you could lose i.e from a flat battery though, do a sweep for viruses when you get back up & running.

Try pressing the windows key + R then if the run box opens type "iexplore"

If that doesn't work try typing "explorer"

If that doesn't work it's recovery disk time.

What OS?

First try run the www.google.com

To reinstall internet explorer go to control panel 'programs and features' on the left, turn windows feayures on or off. Assuming it works like XP used too.
