Hi

I really will appreciate some suggestion should I go for Metzeler MEZ4 or Bridgestone for my SV650S K2, it has still only done 4900miles, but rear tyre looks not too good (cracked at edges) after storing away the bike for long.

I am getting Metzeler MEZ4 (rear) for £97/- delivered however it will cost me £25.00 to get fitted; whilst the service centre near me says why dont I go for Bridgestone costing the same i.e £125 fitted.

What I am of impression that Metzeler MEZ4 is Suzuki recommended OEM, and it seems tyre is known for good grip. My usage is just leisure ride no commuting etc. may be I will start to tour in Summer, but definetly no sports / racing... but I still prefer one that will give good grip in any weather.

Also are the big tyre better or small?, what are advantage or disadvantage of big or small tyre?, dont big tyre have better grip?

Thanks
Naresh

that's what the review section is for, your questions have been asked and answered many times, in short no the Mez4 isn't the best tyre, bridgestone make many types of bike tyres it all depends which you are considering? I've no idea what you mean by big or small tyres, care to elaborate ?

Cheers Mark.

Like Mark said there is a lot better tires for around the same price now.
My local tire fitter doesn't carry Mez4's for that reason.

Sports touring tires provide the best balance between all weather use and out n out dry grip.

Do Metzler even make Z4's anymore ? I was under the impression that they had been replaced by the Z6.

Sounds to me like the garage in question are trying to shift old stock they've maybe had hanging around for ages ?

Surprisingly yes they do! They are superseded by the Z6.
I asked the question after I had bought my tires and picked the set out of the delivery that had just arrived.

A set of Avon Storms fitted is about the same price as the Z4's

As for size, use the original specification, 120/60 front and 160/60 rear, don't mess about with anything else.

Metz4 were not really very nice tyres and are very old spec now, there are much much better tyres available. Don't go there.
