Big bang this morning, thought is this the start of the next evolution, but apparently it was just the sound of the tv dieing :(.
So 37inch LG lcd tele, sounded like a bulb blowing, glass smashing or something, now not a peep, is it worth fixing, what might be wrong tube? and likely cost to fix if viable, cheers andy.

LCD tv's don't have a tube, you will probably find it's the psu that's gone bang! There are repair agents around, get some quotes and price them up against a new one and decide from there.

Thanks for the reply's, don't think it's the psu as there is power to the tv, the power light goes from red to green, fluctuates between, of it's own accord, scary lol.
Mmm repairs at the mo seem to be about £100-125, will phone a couple of peeps tommorrow.

If you really heard a loud breaking glass sound then I can only think of the backlight assembly, but not heard of one 'blowing up' before. Switch mode PSU faults most common, often you will be able to smell something wrong in such a case.
TV man can really only dedicate an hour to diagnosing your problem before it starts to become uneconomical, based at the replacement cost for the set at £300-£350.

Tis indeed a bugger when that happens :(

Just wondering what your liability insurance must be like Phil...;)

Well got it repaired, was indeed the psu, chap said it was strange as normally when they go then there are no power lights on at the tv which there was, but he showed us the chip that had really blown chunks out of itself, anyhow cost us £120, so if it lasts another year or two will be worth it.
But it's way better watching the 37incher, than the old mahoosive box crt that we have for just in case.
