Popped into work on the bike today to play football & pick up some stuff I needed for the weekend.
Sarah bought me some long johns but I was skeptical that they would keep me warm.
OMG, the only bit of my body that wasn't stinging with the cold were my legs and I'd only been riding for 25 mins!
I had forgotten to wear my glove liners (hands were pink), put my summer boots on by mistake (feet frozen) and put a t-shirt on instead of a long sleeved top (doh).
I'm a believer, long johns rule.
So, what tips do the org have for my other body parts?
I'm not nesh but will defo wear them again (if the snow holds off).

I wore mine to the football the other week, marvellous when you have to spend 90 minutes sat on a plastic seat in these temperatures. Obligatory hip flask to warm my tummy, scarf, wooly hat, insulated gloves and 2 pairs of socks.
Sweating like a paedophile in mothercare when I go to the brown cow for pre match drinkies.

to be fair Fruity, with summer kit on, it's no wonder you felt the benefit of the long johns! now try wearing them with proper winter kit, bet they don't feel as good haha
i wore my draggin jeans today with thermals long johns on underneath, quite toasty. I always wear them under me leathers when out and about, plus a pair of ski pants on top of leathers for added toastiness.

Yep- got some nice thermal long johns. Great for the bike journeys (and hiking in the cold).
A thermal base layer top and microfleece also recommended. Warm and not so bulky.
a norwegian shirt from any good army surplus shop, had mine on with long johns under my combats while clearing the runway at waddington the other week and i was very toasty. it will also act as a neck warmer.

Long johns all year for me, thin ones in the summer on the bike, thick in the winter for skiing.
Biggest long john issues are:
1. Seam interference with tigh fitting performance footwear, e.g ski boots
2. Pi$$ing if they don't have the required slit.......
i wear them all the time in the winter, awesome, especially when sea fishing last week!!

I think it must be the latter - why not wear something that's suitable for the circumstance.

Does this mean you can't steal them or that they just don't go with your eyes?

Karrimor running tights when I wear my draggin jeans.
Helly Hansen baselayer tops are brilliant all year round.
Never thought of wearing a Norge. Haven't had any for years. I'm going to have to get a couple, not had any for years.

Ha ha. Whoops.
I wear running tights under leathers, they don't have a 'hole' for the essentials, so I have to go to the sit downs. Standing up with your kecks around your knees would look a bit ghey:lol:

you just just pull the front down enough, sitting down to take a **** is way more gay:santa:

+1
Long John and Thermal top... Neck scarf too...
inner gloves and big winter outer gloves and for a warm and happy rider...
but the best advice is... get a Fog City or some other thing that De-mists the inside of your Visor :0)

That my next purchase. Already got thermals, use them for under my leathers or as another layer in winter under the textiles to extra warmth
