I am trying to get my kids from Newbury for Christmas. I am supposed to be picking them up Sunday evening. I have asked thier Mum if I can pick them up today because the weather forecast is not good for later on today. There is no snow predicted for tomorrow but it's the snow predicted for later today and over night that is going to cause the problems.

Anyone know what the weather conditions are like in Newbury at the moment? Are the main roads clear? Is it snowing now?

Thanks

Well it's still snowing in Newbury it seems. Due to pick the kids up at 7pm. Fingers crossed the roads stay clear enough for me.

No idea myself, but this website might help you

http://www.raintoday.co.uk/

Shows the current rainfall for the country, if you pop your postcode in you'll get what the weather is doing in that area, its a little behind though 15 minutes or so...

Might be worth keeping an eye on.

Stig, just been talking to a mate in Wantage and he reckons they've had 4-5"" of snow, his son is currently crawling along the A34 on the way from Newbury behind a snow plough.

Update; "Eldest son has travelled 4 miles in 2.5hours, A34 between Didcot & Abingdon http://images.proboards.com/new/shocked.gif! He has 6 more miles to go "

Thanks guys. Been to Newbury and am back at home. Roads there were no different to here. Easily manageable. Kids now safely home. Christmas can now commence. Bring on the snow. :)
