Is there anyone around that sort of area? The reason I ask is I need to know what the road conditions are like. Especially how the North Circular road is.

I'm meant to be going out in the early hours of the morning to change some of the roadside advertisements. We have had a covering of snow here in Bedfordshire and need to know what it's like in the areas we are going to be working. As much as the work needs to be done it seems pointless to do it if we are going to keep getting stuck.

So are the roads drivable or are we going to be fighting a losing battle? Cheers people. :)

I am just a couple of miles down the road from Greenford - I have only walked around the corner to the local supermarket and the side roads all have about 6" deep snow with the B Roads having quite a lot of slush but passable. I have NOT walked as far as the A312, the nearest main road, so cannot offer any advice.

Do you absolutely need to go out in the morning! Who is going to be about to see the adverts anyway!

If you do make the journey, drive careful and be safe.

Thanks for the advice Nostrils. :) We don't 100% need to go out in the morning, but with the amount of work to be done this week it would be nice to get it done. As for who will see it, our posters should get over 50,000 views in a week.

Just been on the BBC Travel Website and if you choose London, then Traffic Jam Cameras and zoom into the greenford area, there are a couple of cameras you could view and from there you could also check out your who journey via cameras...

Cheers for that. It doesn't appear to be too bad.

If you post the pics on here, we could look at them 50k times - or doesn't it work like that? ;)

If you're travelling to and from Walthamstow and Greenford, bear in mind the North Circ is screwed at Bounds Green by Arnos Grove (where you do a right turn on the A406 going clockwise). They are doing roadworks there and it's bad enough on a normal work day let alone a snowy weekend. Got stuck in that crap for 2 hours last week.

How did it go, Smegman? Or haven't you got home yet ;)

It actually went alright. The A1 to Baldock was pretty iced up in lane 2 but was still usable with very careful steering inputs. The roads in and around London were clear and fine to drive on. The North Circular from Walthamstow to Henleys Corner was fine. On the way back from London at 6 in the morning the Fog really descended at Stevenage and viability was down to meters. With that, minus 10 weather and slush made for a more interesting drive home.

I've not got to go back there till Tuesday so I hope things clear up a little between now and then. Instead I have the joys of Hitchin and Letchworth to negotiate.

Lozzo we always have to use that road because we have a couple of signs along there. Hate that road with a vengeance and the sooner the roadworks are done the better. This morning at about 4 was the first time I've driven on it at any normal speed. Any other time and it's gridlocked.
