Looks like you had a larf.

I went out but I'll admit we've not had any snow today so just needed to dodge the icey patches.

I wouldnt have ventured onto the main road, my road had zero grip, knobblies would have helped a bit i think.
Good larf though :)
My sprint is well and truly hibernating in the garage for the forseeable future, but the DRZ will be out when its reasonable.

I am just jealous, because it looked like fun. You have way more snow than us up narf at the moment!

Cool!

I also went out in the snow today, we had about 10cms overnight. Tho i was a lil more throttle happy and ended up sliding down the road a few times! Was fine when i stopped using the front brake

Did about 30 miles all in including a few lanes, and found some of the steepest (and frozen) local hills for some slippery hill-climbing action. Will post a few pics up later if you dont mind the thread hi-jack (or i will start a new thread)

I ache like a biatch now tho :p

You've obviously got more balls than me and more grip, i had zero traction.

Looks fun :) knobblies would be more fun

I so wish i'd got my CR125 road legal this summer, I could have been sliding down our highstreet on it today

LOL

I got full knobblies on the KTM but still had zero grip. Thinks i was a bit fearless coz max speed was 25/30 mph wearing full body armour+kidney belt under the RST enduro kit (also armoured and padded with thermal lining) so didnt feel a thing! A slight jerk of the right hand had the rear wheel overtaking the front as the KaTooM is a bit of an animal and likes to bite me in the ar$e. A lot. The sheer concentration and effort riding on the ice was damn tiring and the slippery lanes killed me wrists coz i was gripping the bars a bit toooo hard lol.

Im still crap tho, i just love it. Possibly the best fun ive ever had on 2 wheels. I really hope it snows some more as i got a day off work too :D

Pics coming up when ive worked out how to get them off me damn iphone!

Ere we go, my first stop after getting of the main roads (which were quite lairy i might add)

Not so much snow on the local lanes but they were rock 'ard and slippy (especially the rocky bits!)

Dam, just makes me want to get one even more. I've scrapped the idea of that one I posted on FB, just found one like yours but in blue with both sets of wheels and a set of proper off road tyres. Just need to get across and see it. :D

Looks like alot of fun! Have been very tempted by something like that for the winter (but monies refused), probably much more affective on the snow than the SV ;)

Nah that one on FB, front end is twisted, needs more work than I though. I recon it'll end up costing bout a grand to get it mint. I've found an S as i mentioned for £2300....using my compo money to pay for it, can't wait!

Cool, looks nice in blue.
What year for that money?
You'll need a sprocket / discs on those spare wheels wont you?

The speedo will run over as well i think with the SM wheels on.
Another one for the dirt bike weekend :)

Its a K5, 7500 miles on it. Yeah will need the Discs + sprocket or i could just change them when needed but for the cost not worth not buying another set.

Yeah speedo will run over too. Yup deffo up for a dirty weekend ;)

You could probably sell one of them sets of wheels couldnt you?
Decent road going off road tyre will do a good job of both.

drz's are nice bikes but far to high a seat height for me. ive found in the dim and distant past when rideing on snow covered roads something like a old school dt 125/175 or a ts 125/185 with real knoblies and about 6psi in the tyres worked well and because they are low to the ground are very easy to control unlike the more modern stuff which you need a step ladder to mount.and on fresh snow when you get to about 30 mph the bike would ride on top of deep snow and not bog down in it,but if youve got a 36 inch inside leg or are very brave you'll probably get away with a dzr

good on you for getting out-we tried the bikes at work but due to the layer of ice beneath the snow we had zero front end grip and ended up doing a few donuts in the snow then sticking the bikes back in the garage-was fun but the CI wasn't to impressed with four coppers acting like big kids

Not had enough snow here for that kind of fun :-( and with no exhaust on the bike the neighbours may not be impressed either.

Why does everyone want a poxy fanny commuter and not a proper chav offroader that needs constant fettling, regular maintenance and a thorough checking over for parts that have fell off after every ride?

Bunch o gurls the lot of ya's :p

Girth dude, keep an eye on ebay I've seen countless DRZ's with low miles and both sets of wheels all selling for around the 2k marker.

Generally seems that k3-k5 with around 10k on go for £1500-£2000
K6-k7 with 10k for £2000-2500
and any thing newer is closer to 3k regardless of miles and accesories.
