Nope, none of the birds are underfed by the looks of it, Clair took some food for them today, mainly ducks and geese doing the scoffing.
There were quite a few limping strangely enough, dont know whether they had damaged their legs landing on the ice or something, wasnt stopping them feeding though.

The one pic was a bit dark so done a lazy auto correct and it made the robins red breast really orangey red, not likey :(

I do generally, thats my preference, but sometimes especially when you have only enough time to get one shot, you have to be quick, also what you see with your eyes doesnt always come out on film.
BTW they aint a pro photographer anywhere that dont do post editing of some sort.

thats very true some times its just a quick snap to make sure you get it, a lil tweek to make it look half ok.
yea alot of stuff that pro's do is heavily touched up
Amazing pics! Especially the Robin close ups. :)
*ahem* gets out bird knowledge
The robin isnt fat it has puffed its feathers up to keep warm

Lovely pics, espesh of the robin. You might be surprised to know that despite robins and other wee birds looking round and well fed this year it tends to not be the result of a plentiful diet but more because the poor things have to fluff themselves up to the max to trap as much air as possible in amongst their feathers to keep warm. All the birds in my garden are doing it atm, poor beggars...
EDIT: Really sorry Holdup, didn't read the second page of this thread before posting, you are absolutely right! and I'm most impressed with the Sun newspaper just this once...not the fact you read it however ;-)

Yeah mate it's way better than me.
My mate has the tamron 300mm but he said straight away with mine he could see the difference ( he has a D90 as well), IMO do what I did, wait until you can budget for the better lense.
The nikon lense also has the VR capability as well.

Philly-babs, I haven't got the Tamron version, I've got the Nikon AF 70-300mm 1:4-5:6 G version, its around the £100 mark from various places.
To be honest, I don't know what the quality of the Tamron is like so I wouldn't rule it out, maybe find someone that sells it and see if you can have a demo of the Tamron and Nikon lenses using your body and then get the pics home and onto your laptop to see the results....don't forget the Sigma range of lenses too ;)

I take it that is you and your son?
If so you should get that picture printed and framed and put it on your wall mate, that's a beautiful picture.

as the specialone said, its my bestest friends son and missus, like all good photos (or ones that I like to take) completely spur of the moment snap, on auto and point and shoot :D
This was a while back when we had freezing fog, before the snow.
