My dad picked ours up last night, better late than never i guess.
Just wondered, who has
A) A real tree.
B) Fake tree.
C) doesn't bother.
Fake, it cheaper and less messy.

+1 too much hassle, and more envoironmentally friendly as well.
We keep our fake trees years.

I can see why people have fake ones, but don't you miss the smell and the painful sensation you get when you step barefoot on a pine needle?
I don't think I have ever experienced a 'real' tree to be honest.

As motorcyclists we should hate real trees ;)

then why have a tree?
then why have a tree?
Because my girlfriend Kerry loves Christmas more than anyone else unfortunately.
We have a fake one- I don't see the point in spending money on one each year when a fake one does the job and lasts forever!
If I lived on my own I wouldn't bother with a tree at all but the wife likes to have a tree and put up decorations and stuff.
Lol! G, just looking at your post above it seems we are in exactly the same situation!

Just remember GOD doesnt like Xmas trees (http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/book.php?book=Jeremiah&chapter=10&verse=2)...
2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people [are] vain: for [one] cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Lucky he's not real then.

Fake ...... easier on Samsons paws :-)
And I dont have to lug one in the car every year .... FAKE all the way ;) (only trees tho)
Fake here, I used to have real ones growing up though, we would just plant it in the garden until the following years time to dig it up again.
I remember that it was a mess to clean up and my mother was always hoovering up the needles, and I cant say that I remember the nice pine needle smell too much, but perhaps that is just my memory.
In my mind there is nothing taken away from the xmas experience in getting a fake tree.

half of a 6ft fake, always had a fake one growing up and always wanted a real one.
First chirstmas in my own house I bought a real one similar size to our family fake and it cost £50 inc a stand.
I wasnt impressed!
that January I bought a 6ft fake one in a sale, but we only erect the top half in this house, a 6ft tree would look rediculas in our tiny living room.
Fake here, I used to have real ones growing up where?

We haven't had one the last few years but this year I bought a 6ft black one. It's a shame not to have the scent of a tree but I've got such a snotty cold I wouldn't be able to smell it anyway. So far the cat hasn't tried to wreck it - but it's ony a matter of time...

Real, every year. You just cant beat the smell and the picking of it. How some are oddly shaped and all are individual :) i like that

6ft fake one here, don't drop needles obviously, but it drops snow instead, mrs wants either a real one next year or a fake black one.

No tree this year. Mrs Metal insists on real ones, but lookee here... station wagon traded in for sports car, no room for a real tree! I offered to get an artificial one, she just said no.
Result!
Real. It's a Nordmann Fir, here's a close up pic so you can see that it's a bit different from a normal tree:

doesn't drop its needles. Has been there a week, and no needle drop yet, I put water in the stand every few days. Will look better when I've painted the wall behind it (top left) and linseed oiled the doors to the den:D

Fake. Lasts longer, less mess , less fire danger, btter for the enviorment, etc.
I do miss having a real tree though.
Ed your tree looks ace!

Always a real tree. Always! It smells lovely and the type my dad gets (he knows lots about trees apparently) never really drop their needles!
Don't get how they are bad for the enviroment really, as most places specifically plant trees as Christmas trees, not like the forests are getting chopped down for Christmas trees! I actually helped plant Christmas trees one year!!

Nor me, a renewable resource.
A professional study on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of both real and fake Christmas trees revealed that one must use its artificial Christmas tree at least during 20 years to leave an environmental footprint as small as the natural Christmas tree.[
