Has anyone used one of these?

I thought it would be useful to have something that can withstand some abuse that I can carry around, has anyone used one of these? Wasn't gonna get it from there seen cheaper else where.

It seems the test is done in 'non operating mode' with is fine if you drop it when its off.
I wiped my hdd in my laptop out and then my backup hdd within 5 minutes of each other, i wasn't happy. Id buy one if i thought it would survive after being dropped whilst on.

I bought one of these and I've knocked it off the desk a couple of times whilst in operation plus I've dropped it from my bag and down a flight of stairs and it still works. cheaper now too

whatever you buy I wouldn't get it from maplins!
if you want hard disks which can survive shocks etc then go only for laptop drives, they are built with higher G ratings due to their intended use, there are models that have freefall sensors in them and protect the drive if it senses its being moved or about the fall
