View Full Version : So whats your plans for 2011 ?
Im hoping to lose a bit of weight, get my fitness levels up, pass the course Im on right now and not get made redundant in Aug, sadly Im not in a position to be able to afford a bike in the near future and its been a while since I've ridden out with you guys but you never know ;)
Anyway, what you got planned ?

SSDD in my case mate.
Work, work work.
Maybe get a few test days in at Wigan, couple of rideouts with the org.
Want to travel abroad on the bike, but cant trust the Triumph, so will probably put that up for sale & Buy Italian.
Really want to go back to the Isle of Man & watch Southern 100, so may book the ferry sooner rather than later, that will make me go then lol.
Hope everything goes ok with you & yours Stu, as the song says, Always Look on The Bright Side :)
Hey up Stew, Plowsie is not on two wheels any more too so your not alone!
My plans are to get Uni over with as I'm getting sick of not having time to work on my own stuff.
To get over to Germany on my bike to visit family in June despite the £247 ferry costs.
To see the Alps on my bike too which may have to be the same time as Germany.
To attend AR11.
Apply for voluntary redundacy if the terms are suitable.:smt103
Buy a tourer and naff off to Europe.:smt028
Come back, write a book, get a proper job...sort of!
Sod all. Much the same as every other year. If stuff happens then cool if it dont then ce la vie and all that.
However, milestones this year include, 40th birthday and finishing my IVA in October.
£247 quid ferry costs for you and bike? You are having a laugh. Book a while before and it's only about £50 maximum return at that time of year. I booked for a July crossing and it was £35.
Next year I shall be getting in loads and loads of hard and filthy....
.... bike riding. I'm putting my trailie on the road this week.

Stay alive, thats number 1 for me.
Few trips, at least one to europe on my bike.
Become a better rider, few trackdays etc.

I've tried to get it cheaper but it's only P&O that do Hull to Rotterdam and it's a 10hour crossing so I have to pay for a cabin where was your crossing and does that include the bike?

2011 is another year and I made lots of promises to myself last year I never kept.
Only thing I am gonna do is more exercise and become happier with myself. I feel down and need to sort that out as I have a girlie beach hol in the first quarter if the year.

2010 was a real let down after a great 2009, I made no plans for 2010 apart from going to the AR, which was the highlight (except for EAR rideouts as well) of a very poor year.
Any plans would have been scuppered by events over the summer.
So get the campervan ready for some trips, maybe go to Germany, survive until my 50th in November. Get my karma back wherever I've left it
There's a lot of bad stuff going on a work, which won't get sorted soon, so at the moment 2011 isn't going to get off to a great start

2010 has been a git, so I am starting 2011 with the SV SORNed because I cannot afford the tax and a new rear tyre at the moment. Also, the insurance on the XJ expires on the 1st of January, so things are tight.
My dream job has turned sour, not because the work is bad, but because the company can't pay me right and are not upholding their promise of a lot of hours available. I have five shifts between now and February.
So for 2011, I want a new job that is going to pay me on time and with all that I have actually earned, I want enough to afford to sort the SV out (£200 will sort that and leave me plenty of change to fill the tank!). I want to ride my bikes more and visit the friends from here and elsewhere that I have been promising to visit since getting the SV in 2007!
I really want to get away from home a lot more, I want to see some sights and explore the country in which I live. I want to see more live bands and really get to grips with the underground for the radio show.
I have a new niece on the way, Charlotte Grace will be her name once she is born and I can't wait to meet her after all of the worry and constant trips to Hospital by my poorly sister. My Brother is moving back to Bristol so I will get to see my other niece Robyn more often too, so family is going to be a big thing for me in 2011.
2010 contained too much sadness and I will be glad to see it gone, please may 2011 be a kinder year for us, with out the heart ache and let downs.

Well, 2010 hasnt exactly been a barrel of laughs - difficult divorce, skint on benefits, part-time boyfriend, poor health, blah blah... so i'm trying to be optimistic about 2011 but its hard.
At least my financial situation is better through selling my bike and getting a job (even though its crap!) so I can finally provide properly for the kids after 3 years major struggle.
Healthwise its a bit grim, im looking in the immediate future to surgery for kidney stones and, unrelated, a possible stent in my brain (few unpleasant tests to do first).
There is no way i see me getting another bike this year, but i refuse to let go of the idea altogether.
I'd love to start a small internet business but I cant come up with a suitable idea so will be racking my brains continually, all suggestions welcome on a postcard please...
On a more positive note, i'm going to try and stop worrying all the time and just get on down and play with the kids more. They're healthy and happy and that's what is really important. 2011 will be all about giving them a fun year!!!
2010 had more highs than lows, even though we lost some family memebers and Mrs w's mum is a huge worry.
The GM and AR were brilliant. Dates permitting I'm looking forward to both of them this year. A new bike, and lots more miles.
Plans I have but I don't put any great expectations on the year. Life deals you certain cards and that is what you get to play with.

2010 wasn't the best for me, but I refuse to be down about it.
We found out our youngest son who is now 14 months has cerebal pausey. Just about got my head round this now.
I had surgery on my knackered knee that hasn't really worked so I have had to give up playing football and refing which I loved. A consequence of this means I have put 2 stone on.
My wife is suffering with Post Natal Depression!
However - I did win custody of my 11 year old son from my evil ex and after an expensive court case he now lives with me.
The youngest has taken 2 steps, which is a miracle after being told he will probably never walk.
I have a good job that pays well, and I am lucky enough to call my work collegues friends.
So 2011 throw whatever you want I me I couldn't give a **** what it is it will be like water off a ducks back.
I own an SV and intend to put some miles on it, With the AR, France and the mountains! and Ed bash in shropshire.
I hope to loose a bit more weight. In 2010 I have gone from 18 stone to 14 stone 7 and I want to get to 13 - 13.7 stone
I am also planning on riding more with the Mrs as pillion rather than just using the bike for mostly commuting to work.
I also want to find a new job.

No plans, that way I cannot end the year disappointed.
I will be starting it on a high with my good lady in foreign parts and intend it to be one hell of a ride through to next new year. Life is what you make it. Enjoy the good times but ffs don't dwell on the bad

After 2009 and 2010 not planing a thing holiday wise etc..
- Look to get into any regular work
- Try and shift this last half stone I'm carrying (well stone atm )
- Avoid being left behind with what I'm qualified as (£35 a 2 hour seminar is unjustifiable when thats the weekly money)
- Sort the bike out as it in need of TLC

Me too!!
No idea what 2011 will bring as so much is up in the air - I'm starting the year with a lovely 3 wk old baby boy, the house is (finally!!) pretty much sorted, the OH has to look for a new job again, we're probably doing a road trip to Italy for a friend's wedding in the summer...other than that no idea, but bring it on I guess!
Very much looking forward to getting out on a bike again at some point, though at the moment I can barely even walk, plus bub is a little too young for the pillion seat  But I reckon it will be all the sweeter for the wait...
Wow, looks like a few of us have a had a bit of bad 2010, heres hoping 2011 brings a bit more good luck :D

Yep, millions more migrants, prices of everything shot up, rubbish and litter on the streets to name a few :(
My my 2010 was not the best, pretty stressful, crap job, no money... then got better in the second half with a new job.
So 2011..
I want to actually ride my bike, didn't get much riding done in 2010 because of money and then time.
I want to go camping on my bike in Scotland (far north), bought a tiny tent and tiny sleeping bag already for this.
I want to go to europe for at least 7 days, maybe longer... I had to pull out of a trip in 2009 because of jobs and beed gutted about it ever since.... so this year I have saved a **** load and will go without worrying. As a minimum I want to make a racket through the Monaco tunnel in just shorts and flip flops.
I want to start enjoying myself mainly, without always worrying and stressing.
No plans in particular, apart from adjusting to life without a bike for as long as it takes Pete's eyes to be 'bike-safe' again. Could be three months, six months, a year, never.
Not going to be depressed about it though, we've had some fantastic times and we can still get out and about in the car.
Can't filter for **** though! :D

:( it will be clean when it gets back out though ey?
Of course! Although whether that's with us or a new owner is still to be seen. At the moment it's tucked up in the front room, and is staying there for the time being until we see how things pan out.:D
going to lose weight, hope to ride raptor again, visit my mum and dad more. Going to lots of toddler groups with Libby despite me hating them. Try and save some money by cycling and walking more.
I just hope my previously broken thumb doesn't need further surgery and I can grip things tight enough to scrap the 955 (thanks for pulling out old lady) and buy an SV for a track bike.
Gonna be on a health kick too, been making excuses and woken up to the fact I don't walk, run etc on my hands. Time to get back in the gym!!!
2010 was by comparison with 2009 an amazing year for me - went to loads of fun things, the GM, the AR, concerts, shows, weddings etc, visited friends near and far - Berlin, Cardiff, Leicester etc met loads of fantastic people, got a new car, had a lot of fun... 2011 has a lot to live up to...
It's going to start fairly well though, fun things planned, a 5 week stint in Lincoln, the GM, the AR, then I qualify from Uni in September, graduate in November and then there's a huge life changing decision looming, which may see me further from here than ever before....

I seem to remember you mentioning about joining the RAF or Army ? still thinking about it ?
I think the best way to describe 2010 for me has been a steady plod.
The highlights of 2010 for me have been the welcome visits from certain .org members. It has made my year to have you visit and stay with us.

75% of 2010 has been really rubbish. I was in a job I hated on very little money so I was constantly saving and couldn't afford to buy things I needed. Plus the short relationship I had finished at the start of the year and one of my nan's died recently to top it off. But on the up side the end of the year was alright. Started a new job that I'm really getting to grips with and financially things are starting to free themselves up a bit so I've decided 2011 is going to be my year after a tough 2010.

My plans...well, my plans are the same as usual, keep on keeping on really.
Give up smoking is the main one, but I'm a serial failer at that :)
My arthritic spine would probably appreciate me losing a couple of stone!
I think I will also probably try to engage brain before I reply too... :D
(can't edit at work) :(
Get the last two tattoos done is also a 2011 job, Sleeve for left arm and my left leg has a reserved spot for my avatar on it :)
I really hope that 2011 is better for all those who've had a crap time recently - it's such a shame to read about all of the difficult times and situations some of you have had / are having.
My plan is to plan less. How's that for a plan?
Wishing everyone a happ(y)(ier) 2011.

Was looking for the like button for the above post but then realised i`m not on facebook! :D
Will echo Cazza`s words and hope it`s a better year for all who have had such a hard time during 2010.
I`m hoping that in 2011 I`ll gain my employers agreement to allow me a career break so I can go and do some voluntary work in Africa. They`ve turned down my initial request but I`m able to appeal so fingers crossed.
I don`t have any New Year resolutions as such... I want to continue with my weight loss and become fitter and healthier and I plan on seeing a lot more of the good friends i`ve made on here and create some new and extremely happy memories.
Happy new year everyone x
I've had a bit of a crap 2010, so 2011 will start with the delivery of my new Tiger 800, have had to go smaller as the 1050 is really too heavy, dropped it on the way to Belgium and have buggered up my wrist. Daughter is hopefully off to Uni in September, so fingers crossed that she'll work hard and get her grades.
I've got high hopes for 2011, just hope I'm not let down!

Go Boarding up North with Shellywoozle this month.
Work on upper body strength for a course at work I am getting a go in March.
Work on fitness for 6 monthly fitness test.
Get on a plane and visit Anna and Filipe.
Not make stupid excuses about not going to things.
The most difficult outta that lot for me will be getting on the plane...
Well last year was pretty decent for me, so cant have many complaints about it.
This year, I've got a new bike which I havent really ridden yet (SORN, Weather, 4 weeks out of the country have stopped me doing so) so that feels like I'll have something new to take out once the weather turns.
Ive just bought myself a new pedal iron so intend to get some use out of that, enter a few sportive events and possibly join a local club to get active and make the most of my time.
Me and wifey plan to do the usual BSB meets this year, but also get plenty more camping in and hopefully return to Scotlands west coast after not making it there last year.
I'm going to be making plans for midweek rides more often this year so anyone in the PM looking for a midweek blast watch this space.
Also looking to make my first AR this year after being on here for 5 years. Think its about time I made the effort.
Have my first photography gig this year too so will have to see how that pans out.
I keep harping on about giving up on the police and looking elsewhere for a job but whether or not that happens only time will tell. The wise choice would be to stay put I think.
Any way I look at it, 2011 plans to be an eventful and potentially a lifestyle changing year!

Work on fitness for 6 monthly fitness test.
Is that a scotty thing, as I know of a 45 year old that has not done a fitness test in 26 years since joining and would struggle to run for 1 minute, let alone a basic bleep test?

Friends wedding, for which I'm being paid. Its not a great amount but its more than expenses so it might mean I can spend the cash on more kit.
