If it helps, I saw these at the NEC and they did feel very warm. They had them on their display stand all wired up and they certainly felt good. No idea what they're like quality-wise, however R&G tend to be pretty good for most things and have a decent customer service.

I've spent a great deal of time changing out or bypassing these "electronic" controllers and to be honest they pop like light bulbs, the Daytonas are very good with a simple rotary switich with 2 settings and I've never known one to go wrong, but they are around the £50 mark, these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SNUG-GRIPS-HEATED-GRIPS-GSF-FZS-GSR-FJR-FJ-CBF-XJR-/370463230321?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5641544971) look a safer bet on that front but I've not used them myself, just going on the look.
Cheers Mark.

got some of these for xmas but not fitted them yet, will let you know as soon as.
also my wife got them for me off ebay but she had trouble with the 1st seller she used, she ordered 22/11/10 and they never arrived, then the seller supposedly sent another pair (like ya do) and guess what these never came either, eventually did get a refund though. She then got them from bikedevils on ebay for the same price and they came quickly..

I've got Daytonas on the Versys and until recently was going to swop the rotary controller for a genuine Honda electronic one salvaged from a written off Pan Euro. I wanted a simple push button type because I had limited feeling in my left hand and had trouble gripping it to turn the knob, but since then I've got all the feeling back so no need to bother.
The Daytonas are extremely good heated grips, had about 5 or 6 sets on different bikes now with no problems.

I have Symtec (http://www.symtec-inc.com/Complete-Motorcycle-Hand-Warmer-Kit-w-Round-Rocker-Switch_p_89.html) heater elements fitted. I fitted mine earlier last year (2010).. they're really easy to fit and work well. 3 stage (High / Low / Off) rocker switch fitted on 'dash' looks like it was fitted to the bike in the factory.

I 'had' them fitted, but took them off when the bike was written off. Never bothered putting them back on when I put it back on the road. They were easy enough to fit and I liked them because they allowed you to retain the original grips and do away with the eyesore that is a mahoosive black box control fitted to the bars (as you get with the other styles).

Exactamundo!....the rocker looked like it was meant to be there as opposed to a fugly box somewhere on the bars.

One of the lads at work has the R&G grips and has no problems with them. They get hot and haven't stopped working once.

No

Do you not ever worry about the lights on your bike draining your battery when they are on while you are riding... ;)

got these for my previous bike stood up well to a journey from redditch to aberystwyth and back again in late November took about an hour to fit on it was a fiddily job on my old bike cheep and nasty bike though. Grips are excelent, Always hot actuly can start to burn abit if you forget and leve them on high!! if your only going around town nice chunky feel to them while riding

I had some of the Heine Gericke ones at about £50 (oxford do identical ones too)... really easy to fit, just attach red wire to battery, black wire to frame and then use cable ties to hold all in place, they were really good for the whole day I had them on before my bike got stolen :( I'm thinking about getting heated gloves next tho as the grips are good but they only heat the palms of your hands leaving your knuckles and backs of your hands to freeze! The gloves go from about £80 to £150 as far as I know.

got the r&g grips fitted yesterday ( got someone else to do it cos i don't know what i'm doing) and they seemed to work well on my way home.
I have no experience of heated grips so cannot compare to over makes but the instructions said not to be used with bare hands so i was expecting them to get red hot, however they don't get too hot but whilst riding they heat through the gloves very well, and as someone else said the left hand side seems to cool off or not get as hot as the right hand side but this is only minimal and it still does the job well.
all in all i'm impressed with them.

The left grip is on the handlebar, the right grip is better insulated from the metal of the handlebar by the twistgrip tube.

I wrapped a few layers of insulation foil tape around the bars before fitting the heater elements. The foil is good to 200c so it should be fine and so far so good.

And a wee bit insulation tape on the edges to stop them turning up when slipping the grips back on.
