One of my fave actors, a real shame. :(
A really good actor who kept himself to himself when off-screen. I wish others were like this.

It was a great shock to read about it, to name just one, his acting in Brassed Off, especially the speech at the end was an excellent, emotional performance.

First saw Pete in the stella one off called "Coast to Coast" with Lenny Henry back in '86 he was good in that as was everybody. This little one off was chock full of R&B classics, its because of this that the BBC cant release it on DVD would have to pay all the royalties. Which is a real shame.
Perhaps they will re-show it in a Pete tribute run.

Just an update, his last film role was for a unkown local East Anglian filmaker who approached him in a pub and asked him to look at a film script he'd failed to get any backing for.
3 weeks after PP had agreed to look at the script PP phoned this guy up and agreed to be in the film for free.
Local Beeb prog showed highlights of the film and off set footage of PP, as it was filmed on location at the lovely North Norfolk railway, which showed PP to be a really genuine bloke, no airs or graces.
Sad part is that PP never got to see his last film 'Waving at trains' as he was in hospital having his chemo treatment at the time of the premiere and passed away not long after.
What a gent

Its a great line, sometimes there are Thomas the Tank weekends, so thats a good time to go, even though its a bit busier than normal, the atmosphere is even better
