View Full Version : This'll raise a smile
A mate of mine who posts to a different place asked if there was an award for 'First F-wit of the Year'. This guy has an old Triumph Tiger that's been modified and stripped of everything heavy and un-needed which he hoons across Salisbury Plain whenever he can.
This is his post
"Cos I think I may have just won it. I haven't ridden RatTig for a
couple of years, so needed to do the usual pre-MOT check stuff & give
it a bit of a fettle for next week's Salisbury Plain trundle.
MOT stuff checked, & lumpy idle sorted (a missing plug on a vacuum
port), I decided to finally fit the new front sprocket I bought for it
yonks ago. That means draining the oil, so I ran it 'til the fan kicked
in, dropped the sump plug & left it draining while I went in search of
the new sprocket. Then I searched some more. Then I had a cuppa & fag
break before yet more searching. Bum. Oh well, it's only 12 quid for
another one.
As I'd drained the oil, I decided to take the old sprocket off anyway.
So I removed the crashbar, sidestand bracket, gear linkage, clutch
slave cylinder, & finally the sprocket cover...
Oh. That'll explain why I couldn't find the new sprocket then, & why
the oil was suspiciously clean. ****."
Made me laugh :D

That's because you're young and in possession of your faculties. The old guys all know EXACTLY what he did there. :)

Sometimes I can't remember why I went upstairs.:D
I was refitting an exhaust recently and got interrupted halfway through. Came back out to the garage no more than an hour later and carried on but just couldn't get the header to seat properly. I took it on and off four or five times before I realised I'd fitted a second copper gasket.

Being a shift worker all my life, and often having to grab sleep whenever I can, I've come home from an early at 2pm, gone for a snooze, woken at 5pm, thinking its 5am and rushed off to work thinking I'm late for the 6am start..

Hey! I'm over 50 and I don't...er...er...I've forgotten what I was going to say.
Matron, d'you know who I am?
I've done an oil drain and then replaced the oil without fitting the sump plug. I knew how much oil should be going back in so didn't bother checking the level until I was at that stage. It took a couple of seconds and a head scratch before I realised what I had done. That was an expensive service.

Chortle chortle.
Most of my mishaps come from fitting tyres after a night on the p*ss. Like taking the tyre off and then refitting the same one rather than the new one. Or fitting them backwards, very nearly twice.
