View Full Version : Chris 8886 - good news

He's been given the all clear. His parents saw the Consultant today and the outcome is the best.
Chris picked up a stomach virus in Vietnam - I told him not to have the dog curry - and the virus played havoc with his immune system. It took a couple of weeks but eventually his immune system went into overdrive and it could have chosen any muscle in his body but unfortunately it hit his heart muscle which then caused the fibrillation and his heart stopped five times in all.
Almost all his tubes and drips have been taken out and he then had his first meal. He's even stopped kicking the nurses.
The virus has now gone but he is still left with the aftermath but there will be no long term damage to the brain or heart. I am concerned he has suffered some mental trauma as is his mum said Chris has been listening to Phil Collins on his ipod. His brain scans came back OK so I cannot think of an explanation for this disturbing behaviour and suggested they knock him out again until his taste in music improves.
:smt075
It will be over a week before he is classed fit to fly but he should be back home before the end of the month.

As for Phil Collins, well I will be having words with the little scamp.

Great news :D
Phill Collins though... :smt011
I'm worried. They have obviously missed something quite critical. I mean how can they possibly say everything is going to be okay when it is quite obvious there is some serious brain damage?
Listening to Phil Collins has got to be proof enough there are some underlying fundamental issues which need to resolved. I say he should stay there until this virus has been eradicated. Terrible news. I am so sad. :(

Now if she had said 'To bring him out of coma we put on some Phil Collins and he then came round and stamped on the ipod until it stopped' then I could have understood it.
If he starts asking for 'Best Of Celine Dion' or 'Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits' I'm going to fly straight out there and put him out of his misery with my bare hands. It's the kindest thing to do.

bolox, :) have you actually seen him do a live performance even on tv?
He not only is an unbelievably good drummer, he is also a great pianist.
Anyway, young Chris ill defend the collins in your absence.
lol glad he will be home soon. he might not live down the shame of phil collins though

I have seen Celine Dion live twice - yes twice - in a week. And I have had to have my photo taken with Michael Bolton. But this was all a contractual obligation and part of my work - I'm still receiving counselling to get over the shame and trauma. :smt119
(On the upside - I did get to have a beer with Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, when he was in Audioslave - so that made up for it.) :D

Perhaps the Phil Collins is their way of getting him up and about as quickly as possible?

I would rather carve out my own eyes whilst set alight than see celine dion.
But Phil collins... ;)
Could have been worse, it could have been James Blunt, glad to hear he,s on the mend though.

Oh god know, we want him recover ;)
Brilliant news and, like Treacle, it's made my day.
Maybe the Phil Collins thing is a bit like Foreign Accent syndrome? People go into a coma for whatever eason (like Chris) but wake up speaking completely differently.
I'm sure there'll be a treatment out there somewhere for it. If not, we'll just have to put him back in the coma to try to reverse the damage!

Phil Collins is a DRUMMER, not a musician...

Er, he also plays piano.
He can sing, like it lump it, he's sold a few records and not by just drumming either.

By why did he have it on his ipod in the first place? I posted him cricket and bike magazines. If only I'd known I could have sent him some decent music too.
Maybe Chris will also arrive back with a camp manner like Louie Spence, and an urge to wear PVC catsuits on a Friday night. In which case he'll fit right back in to Soho meets.

Can fault him for his stint in Brand X, s'pose.
I must look in Idle Banter more often, but at least I've got the Good News before the Bad News! :D
Please pass on our best, and a recommendation for 'good taste' tests to be carried out asap! :p
Brilliant news!
Maybe one or two more need 5 heart attacks - I'm with the Specialone, Phil Collins is for those with educated tastes.

+1. LPH you are too young to remember Phil Collins before he went through that slushy phase of his music
From 1978 the best drum duet you'll ever see, pictures aren't great :smt098
Anyway great news about Chris :smt023

I am 39 and 13 months - that's old enough. Chris is going to be forced to listen to the Foo Fighters upon his return. Now there's a drummer who is also a musician - and he's got hair.

1978 I'd have been listening to Blondie and The Police before moving on to INXS and Depeche Mode in the very early 80s followed by The Cult and then Soundgarden. At no point was my life tainted by Phil Collins. Or Meatloaf.
brilliant news.
another genesis fan here, not to keen on PC as solo.

Massive derail on Idle Banter - surely not. (And I'm still in love with Chris Cornell- especially now he's grown his hair long and got more tattoos - something Chris Numbers should consider perhaps)
No doubt as soon as he's well enough Chris will be reading his thread and will see all the abuse he's got on here and Facebook while he's been away with the fairies.

Brilliant news! Glad he will be fit and no doubt at the AR to extract the urine from me all weekend again!
Total derail guys, c'mon this is a best wishes Chris numbers thread! Grrrrrrr!
Ummmm hang on a min, he'd find it funny as ****, so I say it stays.
He'll be mad as hell at his Mum though, for letting the music taste info out!
Ban hammer twitches at Phil Collins fans though;)

Well thank f&ck for that.
I told you all those Bangkock girls were good.
Tis wonderful, happy news.
It's such a shame that his travelling has had to come to an end.
BTW I'm in love with Chris Cornell too. If I was, I would.

Messie - Well his mum did say that in my new role (as Lord's/Christopher Currie PR and Media Manager) that I should release to his friends an update that I felt was 'appropriate'. So I could have not told you about the Phil Collins. But it's a bit like the Max Mosley expose in the News Of The World. It 's probably not 'in the public interest' to release this as a news story - but you know you'll all want to read it and then pass judgement.
Monkey - what do you mean if you were you would - you mean you're not? I thought you were?
Good news that he's not going to have lasting damage, that's a major relief and I'm really pleased for him.
Hasn't anyone told him about the new immigration laws concerning lovers of sh1te music - he's going to have some explaining to do at Heathrow if he doesn't want his passport and citizenship revoking.
