Need a bit of help; I'm trying to think of as many air cooled V2 bike engines as possible (but not american stuff), preferably of pre-unit design and between 750-1000cc.
Any ideas?

Bit over your 1000cc threshold, but Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP.

look at early ducati engines 750 ss up to the 1000cc ss,
there is a good start.
Also there is a/c 400 + 600 of the ss motor (like hens teeth to find).

After that maybe small cap 250's
Edit: I think the old africa twins were air cooled

Cheers all.
Looking into a a potential Triton but with a V2 engine.
I have thought about 80's Ducati engines but not too sure if the alignment would be wrong.

Err... What? Neither of them have an V-twin engine you could use, so it couldn't be either a Triton or a Norumph, did you perhaps mean a Norvin?
Not as commonly seen as a Triton, but has been done a number of times.

The inspiration is a TR1-TON, a TR1 engine in a Dominator frame a very tidy looking machine.

Recon it should be called a VeeTon.
I've been looking at Norton Featherbed frames and also BSA A10 frames as well. I have seem an A10 frame for £120 (well mollested though)
Mr Smith,
I might be interested in the 600SS, could I have a bit more info please?

Its runner, with front coil issues (i think when I fancied it), looks tidy.
I nearly bought it last year, but couldn't afford it in worse case senario.
Its up for £1,200 sold as, they've tried to sort it (to my knowledge) but didn't want the aggro. Its at Hunters Motorcycles (Newcastle) 0191 261859
Best speak to them

It's a bit too modern for the look I'm after and I've got a couple of spare barrels and a crank for an AJS 350 jampot that could be made into a V2. I'm thinking about using 500cc barrels as this will give it the short stroke. Will need a bespoke crankcase made up but all the rest will come from AJS parts.
It'll keep the pre-unit look of the bike.
Cheers all.

Yes, I think we're all aware of what Werner Von Braun constructed at Peenemunde, (didn't click your link - that's from memory ;)), mine was a sort of joke too - the last thing that engine could possibly be described as is a rocket of any kind.
Flaccid and thirsty yes, rocket no.

Ah. That is the trouble with the Tinterweb. Sometimes difficult to assess posts and others knowledge, skills and age. My humblest................
The closest I came in style was a Kwak z1 chop. Not hardtailed not v powered. Straight bars. Heavy as hell but a great pose.

If that is a picture of the Carberry engine, that is a 1000cc lump, 55 degree V, and about to go into limited production in Australia I believe.

Well I have just managed to find a couple of J.A.Prestwich conrods.
I'll need to get a crankpin made up, but that'll be interesting!
