Hey All!

I am looking for some advanced training, mainly to get out and have some fun but I would like some additional qualifications in riding if that was possible?

Does anyone currently attend IAM or ROSPA at all?

Or know someone that does courses?

Any help would be appreciated or if you are also intrested let me know. :-)

I'd be interested, prefer rospa or similar to iam cos I'm not that old yet and I haven't got a 1200cc BMW .

There are a number of IAM members of all grades lurking about the place, and there was an ongoing RoSPA thread from someone who was building up towards their test (and a potential bunch were heading across to the West Yorkshire group to sign up, but I think Wakefield is out of the question for you).

If you do join, feel free to chuck questions out about anything (if you can stand the flames from those who don't understand it) - most of us are willing to chip in to help.

By the way everyone who might be intrested. I went along to my first IAM Meeting in Kidderminster yesterday. It was great fun! Wasn't sure what to expect but its worth doing if you have the spare time and love riding... :-)

Ha! Well my bike is a little pimped but not over the top and I think secretly they quite like it. Especially as it was clean and looked like I gave a sh*t. :-)

I'll PM them over to you...

darylB on here is a senior observer with Telford & Wrekin IAM. Suggest PM him if interested. Nice ride up from Kiddie, A458 via the Shatterford twisties to Bridgo and A442 to Telford via those nice bends at Sutton Maddock.

We shall have to meet up at the bike cafe at Quatt some time...

Its the A442 all the way from kiddy to telford going thorugh Shatterford.
And i pretty much live in the cafe at Quattford at weekends ask for chris/sunshine the staff there will point you in my direction.
I simply cant afford IAM at the moment but its good to have the numbers for when i am ready to do it.

I've just joinged the IAM and am under 30. The Birmingham group are ubre friendly and the training I have recieved has been quality. I would throughly recommend to others!

The Worcestershire group are exactly the same! Loving it! :-)

Only thing that bugs me is I never know where I am going and I loose concentration sometimes when trying to see where we are heading next by trying to see if my observer behind is indicating or not.

All IAM groups should be supplied with headsets! :-)

I booked myself on to a Take Control course yesterday! Doing it on 9th Feb! :-)

For a day of training for £20 its a bargain!! Okay you supply your own fuel etc but still!! Its a real result!

Its a good course.

Tony, the guy that does the training has taken a few from here out on the same course.

I did one early last year with the SV and am going out with him again this year too.

I agree but the cost is prohibitive, having said that some observers have their own, (I have). I try to plan routes that the associate knows to start off with as it isn't a navigation exercise. At least without radios you can tell if the associate is keeping his eye on his mirrors if he doesn't turn off, :-D

Gives you someone to have a laugh with rather than talking to yourself, lol.

Well I did the Take Control course today! and I must say it was great! :-)

I learnt quite alot and fast (Depends how quick you are at learning) But Paul (The Instructor) helped me out alot and was very very friendly. :-) Great Guy! Which always helps.

Definitely worth going on!! Plus make sure you say I recommended you! :-P
