So I bought some doner with chips late last night.

Half of it's left. Been sitting out of the fridge in its packing.

Would it be ok to eat this do you reckon? Meat in microwave, but what's the best way to reheat chips?

thanks, im starving

Chips in paper warmed in the oven. The kebab cold or warmed the same way.

<----- Good choice of food.

Hmmm... I always wonder just what's in donner kebab 'elephants leg' because now and then i hit a lump of hard stuff.. cant help but think its some kinda minced up animal bone.. seem to hit the same kinda stuff in hotdog thingys.. but i know there mechanically reclaimed meat (MRM) :pukel:. For some reason though i still eat them.. but if im eating sausages im pretty funny with them.. because theres like 40 odd percent meat ones, 60 odd percent meat ones and 90 odd percent meat ones.. seems a bit strange that you can get pork sausages with less meat than filth in them..

Hmmm... I always wonder just what's in donner kebab 'elephants leg' .............

Either;

Prime cuts of lamb fillets minced and mixed with a small amount of lamb fat. Freshly choped onions, garlic and herbs.

Or;

Any left over lamb jet washed off a lamb carcass, all residue fat and powdered onion, garlic with dried herbs, mixed in the restaurants bath.

Living in a Uni town there are lots of kebab shops the local area. Non any good though. I did order a delivery from a new one last Wednesday. Family size. Large container of mixed meats, small container of salad, 3 pittas, tubs of chilli, mint and garlic mayo sauce. I didn't order chips due to wanting the healthy/diet option ;). Managed half the meat, 2 pitta and all the salad. Ate the rest of the meat cold the next day when I came home from work.

Oh God, gonna puke!

Thanks for that.

Sean Locke does a set that claims that kebabs are a sad little species that sliver around on the floor like slugs, which is why they are easy to catch and put a spike through them! His routine almost had me wanting to throw up too!

Donner meat is a no no!

Just think, in the summer they heat the meat up... Then when business in low, they turn it off and so on, so heating / reheating is bad from the start.

Also when they turn it off and it cools down, what is there alot of in the summer and loves smelly food... Flies.

They land on the meat, eat it, puke it back up, lay eggs and spread their disease. I don't understand how people eat it!!

That adds to the flavour.

Maybe we need a poll on forum doner eaters or not.

I am not sure and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Doner is traditional Cypriote wedding food. However I believe that in Cyprus the do take a bit more care over the preparation and they don't heat, cool, heat cool etc.

When you think about it the bit in the middle of the Doner you see in the shop is raw and the outside is the only bit thats being cooked! So when they slice you off a bit if they go too deep..........

I always wonder why they look soo good at about 2.30am when you are ****ed!

Nomnomnom, past two summers i've lived off of kebabs, make a point in trying one in every town i'm in! Kebab shop in Largs is damn fine, but the one that takes the biscuit for me is the on in London Victoria bus station! It was served on a plate with chips and some salad. BEST!

Get yourself up north where real kebabs are served in nan bread.

Do yourself a favour, get thee to Wilmslow road in Manchester and go to either King K's or Lal Quila (the take away around the back of the restraunt) and get a chicken tikka kebab

Oh my god I miss it up north sometimes, five years down here and not found a decent kebab yet.

Or if you are in that neck of the woods go to Harveys in Rochdale for some chicken and chips.

NOM, I miss decent junk food

The nan bread kebab is an option up here too! Just feel it'd be too much food unless I starved myself for a full day?

haha

Last one I had was so spicy I could still feel the chilli's in the morning!
And the tub had melted with the remains of the sauce in it.

Never have them now, after a mate (ex-takeaway owner) told me the exact meat content of 90% donners in Newcastle.

Drove back up from Autosport show at NEC last night (:cool:Had lunch with Allan McNish and met Tom Kristenson:cool:) and had a 'bab, XL with garlic mayo & chips - still here to tell the tale, but did wake up at 3.00 am with raging indigestion!! Worth it:smt050

I was told by a mate who works for local council inspecting takeaway's for hygiene, etc, that the Kebab is the safest option as it is always cooked, cos it sits there all the time and also cos its in the front of the shop for all to see they take more care. Its what you can't see round the back that you have to worry about!!!!!!!

He also said Rice is the most common cause of food poisoning from indian takeaway's, when it is not sold and then they reheat for the next day, then the next[-X

as for whats in it - who cares, tastes nice and can't be any worse than haggis, sausages, black puddin, etc, etc, etc.

Ickkkkkkkkkk:pukel:

It may be worth mentioning to you that well over 90% of animals slaughtered in line with halal rules in this country ARE actually stunned immediately beforehand and the only difference really is the blessing of the animal.

There is lots of halal meat sold in supermarkets and convenience shops, but it's all been stunned and slaughtered in exactly the same way as non halal....only difference being the blessing.

If however you go into an Islamic area and go to a takeaway or shop...then you may be more likely to get meat from animals that have not been stunned, but like I said...well under 10% of all halal meat in the UK is killed in thsi way.

ON a lighter note.....that's the very same kind of chicken tikka kebab I had when Stretchie took me for my first visit to Lal Quila.....NOM!

That all looks sick really!

I have to admit I stopped by KFC for a snack a few hours ago, leaving the science museum and heading to film event. I find if I eat to much junk I feel sick. What finally changed my ways was a w/end of take out and filming I thought I was blow on the M25 driving home I felt really sick no beer involved I was just really ill and finally pucked when it was to do it!

@ ED I'm normally marinte my steak for an hour or so, then have a plate of salad with it, never much carbs with a glass of red thats enough for me.

The best way is to eat enough slow release food before you head out so you feel good through the evening it works most of the time!

Well, Pizza, Kebab, Chicken and Burger place.

They do a Doner Pizza :)

They REALLY should do a "The Works" and do a Pizza with burger, fried chicken and doner meat - that would be AWESOME !!!!
