Decided to investigate "tablet" systems, I have a couple of development ideas, but related to work. I refuse to buy anything fruity, so invested in a 10" andoid 2.2 epad thingy.
So what do people who don't want to develop apps do with them apart from read ebooks? and of course internet porn!
anyone recommend any good android apps.

I had an Archos 70 Internet Tablet to play with since Friday.
Dont see what the fuss is, I'd take one if someone was giving me one, but I wouldn't pay for one.
I REALLY dont see what gap in my life a Tablet would fill.
Web Browsing - Adequate experience, but I have a Laptop for that and rarely need to look up a site on the move (and my phone can do for that)
Video Playback - again, have devices for that at home that do a better job of that.
PS this also applies to fruit based tablet devices...

Boss will pay for it on expenses. Me buying means it doesn't have to go through corporate procurement who will start asking stupid questions.

I think the tablet idea is a victory for marketting ********.
The market has been created where one did not exist and its fueled by Shiny-fing Syndrome.
I agree with Soulkiss - the functions that tablets do can be done better by other tools I already own.
I am sure someone will disagree wth that, and say that tablets are awesome and their life is now so much better - but they aren't for me.

As you may know, I succumbed to fashion and form over function and bought an Ipad.
I didn't need it, I have an HP Mini laptop for web browsing and that's about all I do on any computer.
However,
I liked the Ipad. I enjoy the games I can play on it, the web-browsing is easier for me that on a laptop, the music quality is good enough for me and video playback is very good.
It's all down to what you like and what you can afford. I chose not to go with the Android tabs, the popularity of Apple and their App store means there is more to choose from over the Android marketplace.
Tim, I would recommend Angry Birds. Don't scoff, just get it and enjoy playing it!

Please review your evidence before you present it in court :p
The Android Marketplace is every bit as good, if not better than Apples... (http://thenextweb.com/apps/2010/05/02/5-reasons-android-app-store-trashes-apple-app-store/)
I am not sure about the FM Radio angle, but the Apps2SD stuff did appear as rumoured - that article is 8 months old now.
Apple demand ridiculous "fees" to be able to write Apps for their Shiny toy, Google provide the software for free, and don't say "no, you cannot publish an app that does that" (with the exception of stuff that is Malicious).
I do agree on Angry Birds tho - its what I did mostly on the Tablet I had borrowed.

They are good for the right person. for example making a pitch to a client, or something along those lines much easier and quicker to pull out your Ipad and get the graph up that you are talking through, show the picture that you are selling, show a video of the product that you are adertising. and an ipad is also much smaller/lighter than most laptops. (not all but most) dont need to spend ages going through startup like a laptop, and being that it is not filled with the c**p that windows based systems have to offer shouldn't start lagging like a laptop. will keep running smoothly. plus at the moment they have a "bling" factor which some people like.
I dont think i would spend the money on one, i dont think i have the need for it. However i am going to try my hardest to get one for free or very cheap with my next mobile phone upgrade. and i think there is a place for them.
On holiday for example, and sd card in camera fills up, chuck them all on tablet and start taking pics again, tablet again much smaller, lighter etc than a laptop (in most cases)
Thats what i think anyway.

Erm, new/spare SD cards are going to be a LOT cheaper....
At my calculation, you could get at least 10 x 32GB SD cards for the cost of an iPad...

Yes i agree, i am not saying this should be the reason for the purchase, however it is a use for it.
