I applied for my Driving License so I could drive my shiny Aprilia RX50 around my town and ruin the place...
I know its 10 years because on the mat this morning was the driving license renewal form wanting a new picture and £20 of my hard earned English pounds... (ok im off sick today but still)
Granted im not old enough to start " I remember the paper ones after the war" but still Im getting old and id like it to stop please [-X

I'm actualy 75.
My licence is 36 yrs old and was originally printed on paper made from papyrus reeds.
Apologies for the large print but my eye sight isn't what it used to be... eh, what did you say.

And just a reminder from one who deals with such things;
If your licence isn't renewed, you will show on the PNC as having a revoked licence. In the past, you would have an entitlement to drive for twelve months to give you time to sort it out.
New law; that period is now 28 days.
After that, your licence is shown as expired and if you are driving a car or riding a bike, you would be doing so "other than in accordance with a licence" and most likely, have the car seized under Sec 165 RTA. Then asummons to the Magistrates court and on conviction, points (usually six) and a fine.
It catches people out a lot, so go and check your licence.
I'd better do as I say 'cos mine is due in a few months! Imagine going to work...
"Erm, Sarg, um, I fecked up again!"

ah! that'l be why i have two of them in my wallet, just in case ;)
My drivers licence might just have 1978 on it somewhere but it's in such small print that I can't really read it. Not that I'm in denial or anythng:rolleyes:

I gained my paper license in feb'89, then had to have a photocard when i moved 11 years ago :(
Thinking about it, i must have renewed it years ago cos i cant remember getting a renewal notice
This happened to me last week :( it resulted in having to go to a terrible terrible place full of druggies, benefits cheats and old people... THE POST OFFICE.
I needed a show afterwards, I even leant on the barrier around the queue and got someones nose pickings on my hand.
Came within 2 days of sending it off electronically using the post office service though!

Some of the old photo licences didnt have dates on like the new ones.
Just checked the date on the newer one I have here and it looks like a trip down to the DVLA office in the morning to hand over some cash :(
