right, WTF!?

curvey sv caliper pins.... easy! if they get stuck or sieze a little you just get a allen key and hammer and you give them a little persuasion TAP!

pointy sv's... oh no... some idiotic engineer ( well i say idiotic - i couldn't engineer anything) has designed the retaining pin with a flat head screw top. and then made the bloody thing out of cheese. not even a hard chedder. they made it out of that soft goats milk crud, for people that dont have their original teeth any more.

anyone know how i can this mo fo out. my pads are foooooked after winter salt and they despriate need changing before they spark. 00ive sprayed it down with wd ive found a screw driver big enough to fit the whole gap and still not budging, id prefer to keep the caliper on the bike for now as i use it to get to and from work.

somany tips on geting these things off...

tut, never had this problem with the curvey tut!

I'd get a decent impact driver that should loosen it

and get a spare caliper aswel

The pin has a 5mm socket head, the cap over it has a slot. Tap the cap squarely and sharply with a flat ended drift and then it will undo easily - and then see below about how tight it shouldn't be.

Tip: It won't seize if it's the right amount of tight - which is less than most people wind it up to.
