I've got a credit note with Focused Events to use up, and a couple of days' leave that need to be used by the end of March. Hence the Focused Events trackday in March.

No can do. Firstly it's it's on a work day, secondly it's on a Wednesday.

Well of course. It's more than 3 minutes from Dorset or wherever you live now, and the day has a Y in it.

I can't do Wednesdays as that is the day in the week I visit my kids. :p

No way I am going to risk not seeing them.

Sounds pretty tempting that. Will consult the diary and finances and book if possible.

I'm toying with the same circuit on Easter Monday for 149 quid instead.

Better chance of reasonable weather and no leave required.

Do you have an unnecessarily loud exhaust then?

sandman
25-01-11, 11:38 AM
It would be touch and go with the baffle in at 100db
It passed at Silverstone last year on the ride by with the baffle in but that was a weekday.
I will have to have a think

100db limit

I wouldn't pass that :(
Otherwise would consider it

Stig

Excuse my ignorance but how loud is 100db? I know the SV would never have passed, but the Exup has a Remus (I think) exhaust on it. I don't even know if it is a race exhaust or not. It doesn't have a removable baffle, I know that much. I don't think its that loud. At least nowhere near in the same bracket as the SV was.

Does it have a fixed baffle (My old micron had one welded in)
If it does it is probably no louder than 98db
As for how loud i suppose it is the same as a jack hammer or loud concert (according to world wide web)
I have an app for my iphone i might try next time i am out.

Stig

I've never really taken much notice of it really. It's round and shiny with a few scratches on it. Came with the bike. I think it is probably road legal as it doesn't seem that loud to me. :)

Reasons not to put a silly exhaust on your bike, number 387.

ogden
25-01-11, 03:25 PM
Si, 100dB is equivalent to standing 1m away from a jackhammer in use.

To put it in perspective, a C&U regs limited standard exhausts on bikes from 1991 onwards to 87dB. 100dB is more than twice as loud as a standard pipe.

Stig

No problems at all with this one then. Was just wondering as I heard that some circuits had limits which prevented bikes with standard cans on the track as they failed the noise test.

sandman
25-01-11, 03:52 PM
According to the Quill website my exhaust is road legal with the baffle fitted
So if a few people are going to do this one then that will be a yes from me
Nothing else to do on Bank Holidays anyway

Should be able to book a slot in February I'll let you know when, but with a move in the planning, might have to put it on the back burner.

No rush. It's more than two months away, after all.

But if you fail to show up, I'll hunt you down and kill you.

Yeah. Like, whatever. Looking hopeful to be moving beginning of April now. Should have the date confirmed by end of this week.
