Hey.

Got a long flight coming soon and so would like some noise reducing head phones. I don't want to spend loads of money as I'll only be using them the once really.

Cheers Scott

Don't bother buying any if it's only to use once, what a waste of money that would be. ps thay sell earphones on the plane for a couple of quid, hth.

Just buy the ones which fit inside the ear, they'll cut out most of the noise

These aren't proper noise cancelling, but I know a few people have recommended these

I bought an expensive set of Bose Quietcomfort 15s, I use them all the time. They are superb, great for zoning out office noise at work.

These things really help me concentrate when I'm reading/studying.

I bought my wife some Sony in ear type with noise cancelling off amazon for about £40, they are brilliant and really work, you cannot hear anything apart from the music.

+1

I got some cheap over ear jobs from Tandy a few years back for a transatlantic trip and they were not bad. The in ear ones I have now are much better and are good for zoning out in the office to concentrate on things.

They are MUCH better than normal headphones for cutting back on the white noise from jet engines.

used to have some and found them really uncomfortable. It was like an ear wax session each time I pulled 'em out.

From what Ive heard, noise cancellings are never that good. Just buy some big ones that cover the whole of your ear. In ears can never replicate the same feeling as big headphones, and they block sound out pretty well.

Its gonna depend on your ear, as you might find them uncomfortable, someone else might not.

Everyones ears are different, infact they are as individual as fingerprints

No, I don't think so, but Forensic's can take a print off say a window, if you were caught later they could match it up against your lug'ole :p

So any burgler's out there pressing their ear against a door or window beware :D

You sound like someone with experience of fingerprint ink ;)

I disagree there mate, I tested the wifes sony ones by having them on then turning the tv in the room up really loud, you could just about make out there was noise at quieter parts of the music.

I was very impressed as I had never tried any before.

I've had and replaced 2 sets of these now, note I've replaced them due to loosing them not because they're buggered.
They fit neatly into the ear and dont get fouled by putting the crash helmet on. They pretty much block out all noise so pretty sure you can wear them on a plane with out disturbing/been disturbed.

I don't doubt it should cancel that type of sound. Just wondering how useful they would be on the underground or on the back of a really loud bus.

Massive +1 on this! One of my course mates (doing an audio recording technology course) has a pair of these and we passed them around everyone to have a listen and for the price they are unbeatable! Superb quality. He did have a little portable headphone amplifier with them to give a bit more drive. This is the setup he used and got great quality for about £65 all told (NOT BAD!)

Cheers for the info guys, I ended up buying some Sony over ear noise cancelling ones. I've yet to try the
As they are in the post. I'm fed up with in ear ones as every pair I've ever had have eventually hurt my ears after 20min. Hope they work.

Ps in flight head phones from the air line are norm rubbish!
