Removing GSXR fork bushes?

ok you knowledgeable people of the mighty org.

i'm stripping down my GSXR K5 forks and i'm trying to get the bushes out of the upper tubes but they dont want to move. any ideas?

also there seems to be another bush half way down the upper tube that is a 'spring fit' i have tried long thin implements but they just keep spinning round inside. any ideas?

BTW i dont want to damage the mid bushes as you cant get a hold of them.

only reason i am wanting to remove is i'm sending them away to get anodised black and all other metals/non metals must be removed.

thought that might be the case. i definitely know you can replace the bottom bushes (above seals) but the middle one i'm not sure. think i'm going to have to make a tool for this one lol

think i'll give them another phone or email and ask what the score is with phosphor bronze bushes.

if push comes to shove i'll just stick it in the lathe and 'polish' out the stone chips as best i can then get them powder coated.

My upper fork legs came up quite nice after I'd polished out the machining marks with a drill and mop. Took a fair while to get them shiney shiney, and I didn't need to get them powder coated.

I would get the lowers powder coated

yes but i'm a tart and want them black :-) as i dont think the gold will go to well with a blue bike.

dont even know if powder coating will work with the uppers, should do but you never knows.

Phil 24/7's blue pointy looks ok with gold uppers

If it were me, I'd have silver uppers, but thats just me.

If they are showa forks you can take bushes out, kayaba good luck :)
You do have to take them out if anodizing due to process.
There is tool you can use but need to be careful. Bushes go out one direction only, from top down. Tool to use is popular with bicycle people, they take steering bearing races out with it. This is tool I use http://www.parktool.com/product/head-cup-remover-oversized it basically is like spring and will wedge behind bushing.

well my lovely people thanks for all the answers. i have decided that due to the costs of new tools and bushes etc.etc that i'm going to give it a miss as i would just be better selling mine and getting black ones off ebay.

forks are all back together with new seals and fresh oil ready for the swap.

might just decide to do it at the end of the year but for the meantime i will just have to live with the gold.
