Is that a spoiler or a caravan wind deflector on the back?
Actually, have Top Gear ever done that?

You know what I mean :D
Big alloys, 555 sticker kit on the wrong year, wrong spec, wrong colour car. Mahoosive dustbin exhaust that the rally car would never have run. Stupid LED lights in the windscreen washers etc etc
You have missed the poing completely:rolleyes:
Without this, the evo and impreza would probably never even been built.
Yer I know, they are nice cars and they were amazing rally machines, but if it was my 10 grand I would rather have something built properly in Japan than something built from bean tins by Italians.
I had a mate who had one of these, he only had a 4 mile commute to work which took 5 minutes. He then used to have to sit in the car with the engine running for 15 minutes to cool the turbo down. He worked out it was quicker to cycle.

Ah but the japanese rally cars dont have the pedigree of the Lancia. Or the history to go alongside it, plus you see so many EVO's / Imprezza's on the road. Cant remember the last time I saw a Delta so its got that uniqueness that an Imprezza will never have.
Mind you I wander what this will finally go for...

That's the one that came with the optional beard-comb holder isn't it?
It looks like number 443, one of the "specials" that had the pewter pint tankards with the British Real Ale Society logo in the velvet glove box?
My Grandad wanted one of those.

Exactly!
I can remember driving cars like the lotus Cortinas, Dolomite Sprints, Droop snoot firenzas and the like back in the day. Posing in a Triumph stag and a Triumph Vitesse
Always wanted a TR4a. Maybe one day.

Classic? Is when you spend more time fixing the thing than driving it?
My dad used to have a MGB GT which I was given the task of looking after when he spent a couple of years working away. Then I got a Scimitar SS1. Both slow, both badly made, both looked like they were built from a parts bin.
I'll stick to the Jap thing thanks.

Hmm, I'm not sure about the Lancia Integrale. They've become a collectors item these days and are all about investment, not fun.
I used to like the look of the the Renault 5 turbo, the homologation special with the ridiculous wheel arches. Not many of those around for collectors though, most of them were trashed racing. I just had a look and found one for sale, £36,500. Yep, thirty six grand!! I nearly fell off my chair!

Thats why I'd only buy one at that price range, there are plenty more out there at nearly double that price. I want one I can drive and not fret about it depreciating. The fun for me would be in the driving rather than the polishing and leaving it in the garage.

Lenny youve got taste mate :)
The lotus sunbeam is by the coolest car of its age bar none, my friend had a limited edition one is a purple / blue colour, he had 086 of a 100 run.
Absolutely awesome, beat my 1.3 i had at the time, also loved the Ti version, twin carbs, loads of induction noise :)
Fizz, i too love the intergrale's, but the biggest turn off for me is rust, they will be rusty, its just a matter of time before you come out in the morning and all you find is a big pile of orangey brown powder and flakes sitting where your car once sat.
Ill buy a lotus sunbeam when money is no longer a issue, along with the rs2000 mk2 escort and a mk1 escort mexico.
Has anyone seen clarksons xmas dvd, they race prepare a mexico for clarkson to race in, its aswesome, id love a go in that.
I got offered a moonstone blue mexico about 15 years or so ago for £600, it needed about £3-400 spending on interior to get it upto scratch, always regretted not buying that.

+1 on the bimota, I'd love a BB1 just to look at.
As a special toy I would be the old RSV R Factory or 748/9 L.E
Talking cars I'd love the Delta, but love one of these old school rally cars http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2424432.htm
Going more modern these move me more than the lancias

BB1 does nowt for me TBH, Carls was nice but for me a bimota is all about the engine, got to be an iconic one, hence it's got to be SB6 (GSXR11 water :smt096) or SB8 (TLR ). Sorry but a commuter bike motor doesn't do owt for me!
Now then, they should have made one with an RG500 motor. I'd love a harris or Izax framed RG, if I win the lottery I'll build one with an Izax style trellis frame in naked style, black as the night and tuned to the nuts (with a massive petrol tank :-P)

It would be purely for the look, with the BB1 but would have an accident with LC4 motor.
Talking iconic bimota I'd say SB8 purely because its got that TLR motor.
Talking lotto win, it would be a Harris or Marc VDS chassis with a Aprilia V-twin

Oh a Sunbeam, see theres something undeniably cool about that as well.
My mate used to commute from Plymouth the Bristol in a Lotus Sunbeam and could do the journey in around an hour! This is back when you could do the trip and nor worry about rozzers!
Fizz, i too love the intergrale's, but the biggest turn off for me is rust, they will be rusty, its just a matter of time before you come out in the morning and all you find is a big pile of orangey brown powder and flakes sitting where your car once sat.
Mate had one. You're better off sticking to the dream. The reality came with more iron oxide than you could shake two sticks at.
Now if you were talking about the original RS2000... or was it the girl friend/rally driver. Blonde, blue eyes with a stunning figure, especially in a rally suit... sorry, got to go and find some tissues.
Or maybe the Dolomite Sprint I had in the early 80's. For those that know Kirkleatham Lane in Redcar the hole in the fence just after the big road sign and just before the roundabout is Dolomite Sprint size - through backwards at speed after getting the exit from the round about wrong. farmer still hasn't fixed it aftr 20-odd years.
