getting all nostalgic(sp)-everyone who reminises about the original minis forgets how bad they were-i've had three, from standard right up to the 1380 block with full cage , deseamed etc, would love another one but so so impractical nowadays.
They're the only car I've owned. Last one was a beautiful 1380 Swiftune which was mental to drive.
Impractical but bloody lovely.
my first car was a mini cooper. loved it!!! I completely agree that they were so impractical. but you just smiled everytime you were out driving in it.
goes off to look at autotrader and see if there's any for sale.....

That looks like a giggle - I'm out of touch with such things now but 3½ large doesn't even seem too much for the work that's clearly gone into it. Wonder if it'll become 10 grand before it sells.

I think that might give young Barry a bit of a shock at the traffic light GP by our local McDonalds :D
I wander what the BHP is cant see it anywhere on the ebay advert.
Somebody my dad knows used to have an E.R.A Mini reckoned that was quite a giggle to drive.

Very nice find. Looks in good condition. Always wanted a real mini.
Parents have a 1967 mini cooper and that was one of the most fun cars i have ever driven.

I love real Mini's! New ones are not a patch on the old ones!

My first car was a mini 1000, which had been tweaked by one of my father's mates and went far faster than it had any right to.
Excellent fun until some bugger stole it. Well you could open the doors with just about anything.

I was doing a bathroom before xmas and the asian bloke who owned the house was a mini nut who had a huuuuuge workshop at the bottom of the garden, he was building a calibre turbo 4x4 based mini :smt104
It was about 50% done when i seen it, feck knows how he was gonna get all the 4x4 bit running, he seemed to know what he was doing.
He already had the donor engine etc, just a case of finishing, love to see when it was finished.
The ebay one looks a right laugh, bet it has embarrased a few people.

Actually im supposed to be doing a job for him tomorrow but havent heard back from him.
Mini or calibre?
I saw a supeecharger for sale at an autojumble once for £850 without a manifold and it wasn't even known if it was any good.
People have done all sorts of engines in them. Some have had two, yes TWO R1 or Hayabusa engines fitted! There are even companies who sell ready made bolt on kits to fit Vauxhall or Honda 2 litre jobbies. It wouldn't be quite the same as an old A series though.
I'd like to get a lovely Elf or Hornet and shove a quick motor in it. Or do one of these:

Or a moke. Or a van. Or a pickup. Or an estate. Oh my.

Remember seeing one on bluepeter once with a V8, so big he moved the dash and bulkhead back to fit it in.
0-120mph in under 11 secs they claimed, not too shabby :)

Love my Mini's - had around 6 in total - the one below I owned for nearly 11yrs and had an impressive spec in it's day. I nearly cried when the new owner trailered it away 11months ago :( Oh and I love the Supercharged one here too!

I bet that didn't break any speed records being powered by a Dyson! ;)

That was a rare option from the 90's - A Dyson Forced Suction application, gave at least 100bhp, but you couldnt close the bonnet with it fitted ;)

If that's a genuine Broadspeed Mini GT Coupe then I want it. I doubt it though, the roof line looks a bit high.

I couldn't tell you. There was a company making complete lookalike rear ends to weld on at one point.
This is my best one with it's latest owner and coincidentally the one who built it. He part exhchaged it for a Rover 200 after spending stupid money on it including £4k on the engine and gearbox. As soon as he realised his error he looked for it everywhere to buy it back and fortunately he found it up for sale by me on a London to Brighton run.
